You have lots of excellent advice Adam. I am sure as you continue to make video tips you will refine your presentation methods and deliver your knowledge of the game more effectively.

As someone who makes presentations in front of others for a living, I will tell you that the best way to improve, other than lots of practice, is to review your own videos, so that you are aware of what you are doing that works really well, and what you need to improve on.

Hey Dave, thanks for the advice. I am definitely trying to improve, I watch how other people do videos and try to steal some of their techniques that seem effective. I am somewhat limited by the technology I have at hand (only a digital camera and no software), but I will watch my videos like you said to and try to pick up on things I could do better. :)

Awesome vid, LOL’d at “that guy” I personally fought a few of them at BR’s D: basically they were there to help one guy win by flooding the pool to increase chances for byes…really sucked! I ended up with a default win because he made too many mistakes and kept calling me out on wrong things and asking the judge to disqualify me because I kept calling his mistakes out… was even worse because he claimed that I didn’t have 60 cards in my deck and counted my deck TWICE in the MIDDLE of a match!

You could always use a program to cut out segments like while you’re writing on the white board :) Windows Movie Maker is pretty n00bish but it works…

Just a little tip. When you’re putting up visuals, don’t be afraid to put them in front of your face. That way, everyone can enjoy them to the full extent.

    Thanks for the input guys!

Qua, thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into Windows Movie Maker. It’s free, right?

Biskit, ya I did not realize that I wasn’t getting the board in front of the camera. After I watched the video I cringed a little when I saw that, but I really didn’t want to have to record the whole thing over again.

Ideally, I would have an actual video came on a tripod and have a white board on a wall. Eventually I will try to make that happen.

Great video! The “know your cards” tip is probably the most important thing for a new players to learn.

    • Adam Capriola  → kwisdumb

Hey kwisdumb, I appreciate all these comments dude! Yeah it is extremely important for new players to know what their cards do, and even veteran players still need to make sure they know what they do, as evidenced by me haha.

  9. Rokman

As a suggestion, recommend people go to Pokebeach and look at the card scans. 1) You familiarize yourself with the card’s image. Which is actually more important than you may think. 2) You can look at any card, any time, and very quickly. Nice videos, post more, friend. Tell Jeremy I said hi, he remembers me because he gave me the cards for my Flariados… lol

Good video-honestly, that’s the number one thing why players are bad-they don’t know their list! Know every god damn card in the deck!

    • Rokman  → Mike

Not just the cards IN your deck, but the number of them. Too many times I would be relying on drawing a Warp Point or something, because I forgot I have 2 instead of 3 or something like that.

      • alex d  → Rokman

That point of quantity is really good–I too have been in that situation, usually with the number of Night Maintenance in a deck.

Hey Rokman, I do remember you :)
Great video, maybe I’ll get a webcam soon. When I write a decklist for a tournament I try to do it without looking at my actual deck, just to see if I can remember all 60 cards.

      • Adam Capriola  → Rokman

Yeah I really do want to make some videos of in game action. There is software out there that can let you record what you’re doing on the computer, so we would be able to record apprentice games pretty easily. I just don’t have the funds to buy said software yet haha.

If you make any vids, I will gladly post them to the site. :)

Do you need a place to crash Adam? Because you look homeless.

  17. alex d

I laughed at 3:50, when you were like “I tried to play it all cool, like ‘I was about to do that.'”

    I swear I’ve done that.
High quality stuff, Adam. Keep it up.

  18. Adam Capriola

Hahah I’m glad I’m not the only person that has done that. :)

  19. Chaotictorrent

This is actually pretty good info, I had to figure this out on my own, but I’ve never really played much at all, I think I had my first ever 2 games last week, and it opened my eyes to know what some cards do, that Scizor SF can be a beast if the oppenet gets 4 cherrim on his bench @,@ also, Furret techs seem okay when used properly, gettin g ANY 2 cards from youir deck is good, but probably won’t work all the time with 90HP and being a stage 1 poke.

@ChaoticTorrent: That is AWESOME that we’re getting new players on the site, considering it’s mostly seasoned players here.

@Cesar: You mean when they pick it up to read what it does? What do they do if they legitimately don’t know what it does? Don’t they have a right to read it?

No, there isn’t a trading post type-thing, if that is what you are asking. But I suppose something could be set up like that, ask Adam.

I hate to send you elsewhere, but if you want to trade Pokemon cards then Pokegym is the place to do it: http://pokegym.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10

They have a good trading community set up there, so you won’t have to worry about being scammed or anything. I am not going to try and compete with them, their trading system is too good.
