This is such a great video man, Pokemon should seriously hire you to shoot videos and promote the game. Guaranteed more people will be getting into the game thanks to you. :)

Thanks a ton Adam! :D. That’d be some kind of life dream :)– maybe they’ll hire me as an advertiser in the far future :P. In the meantime, I think pokemon is an awesome awesome hobby and a great way for people of all ages to develop communication skills and make friends. Plus, it’s freakin’ pokemon! I think it’s becoming slowly more and more acceptable that pokemon IS in fact still cool :)

That was a nice vid, you covered all the main sites very well. Good job dude!

haha, the beginning was quite humorous :]

never even heard of hey trainer, might have to check that out

    • J-Wittz  → Drew

Thanks! I’m glad you liked the beginning– sometimes I’m not funny and sometimes I am- I figured it’d be a fun risk to take ;).

Heytrainer is really really new, but it blew my mind that there was a full topic about my videos on there when I first found my site. It’s a strange thing hearing people talk about you behind your back but still saying nice things :P

Great article J-wittz. Another good site is Bebessearch.com Its newer (i think) and is just getting going with its forms. It does have a good deck list builder that will tell you the average price of each card and add up the cost/value of your deck and save your deck build:)

  7. I thought you were going to say GoDaddy dot com (instead of go Dash pokemon). LOL
Epic outro music. I liked this episode a lot.

You forgot to mention the best resource of all! http://www.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net – the wikipedia of pokemon. It is RIDICULOUSLY extensive. They have every single card, easy to search and everything else that you would never need to know. Here’s an example of how insanely extensive it is: They have a list of EVER SINGLE move in every generation of Pokemon RPG, all linked to it’s own page and EVERY move has a screen shot of the move being used in the game. How long did this take???

Anyway- Awesome video… hilarious intro… good job

@ Colin Peterik The thing about bulbagarden, though, is that they are notorious for snubbing the Pokemon TCG community on their website. I staffed for them a long, long time ago, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that cards are not their forte. However, it’s a great website anyways, and it’s definitely worth a visit…Just don’t expect it to help your game like the six mentioned in the video would.

HeyTrainer is new, but it’s picking up some serious grassroots support. However, even without censorship, it hasn’t come close to transforming into an outright 4chan yet…Virtually nothing that’d be considered “bad content” yet.

And luckily, I’ve had very few accounts I’ve actually needed to ban, or posts I’ve needed to delete.

woot! sixprizes! ya! thx for shouting out sixprizes for everyone here….plus this is my fave website too, even tho it still baby website having started-as you stated-only 4 months ago….i was like one of the few people that used this website when it barely started…cheers for Adam who is trying his hardest and using up his time to make an awesome website for us!

Well done as always, J-Wittz! Have you considered trying to promote this more through social media and word of mouth? These are great videos and I think with a little step in the right direction they could be something huge for the community. If you’d like to discuss this at all, as I’d love to help, feel free to write me at Facebook or Kennyatkennywisdomdotcom anytime.

    A few comments:

    – I think a few things about Pokegym were missed. Firstly, SteveP’s decklist program which, I understand can be a little hard for a new player to understand, but is a great resource for everyone. Also, their TCG search section works like BebesSearch.com, as far as I can tell, in that it lets you search based on effect, rarity, HP, etc. Maybe that’s something to discuss a future episode? Something along the lines of “Preparing for a tournament”?

    – I thought the bit at the end talking about what the Pokemon websites thought of your posts was a little off-putting. I understand where you were coming from with it and all, but it felt a bit like sour grapes.

    Keep up the great work!

@ Colin P: I actually love bulbapedia, but that’s because I’m such a big fan of the videogames and anime as well. The only TCG content I’ve noticed through my own interaction site was a listing of all the cards– which as I’ve mentioned, a couple other sites do already. I really do love bulbapedia though :D

@Power Swing: Thanks for the praise!

@Eeeon: Dejavu! This looks like the comment a certain 483dialgia left me on youtube. I guess you’re the same person, then? Thanks for commentin’! :)

@ Kwisdumb: what kind of social media/word of mouth, sir? I’d love to get these videos out to as many people as possible! I’ll message you on your site later today and see whatcha had in mind!

Actually, tournaments is a section I want to get to in the future. Stuff like steve’s program and bebessearch.com are great tools but not exactly “pokemon websites”. (also, steve P’s program isn’t exclusive to the gym particularly). I’ll mention these things in a future episode for sure

I’m not particularly sour with any sites at the moment other than the ‘gym, who just locked me a second time. I just thought it would be a silly thing to say, not an angry one! It’s just interesting to see everybody’s reaction to Prof it!

Thanks again for your great commentary!

    • kwisdumb  → J-Wittz

@J Wittz – I feel like you could implement social media by setting up Prof. It Twitter and Facebook accounts, and adding/following most of the Pokemon community at large, and then using both of those sites for interaction between yourself and players, posting of new shows, posting of news in general, etc. Use those as a tool to get in contact with your fanbase (you could also promote it on YouTube videos do get the new people who aren’t a part of the community), and ultimately get more responses and more views to your videos.

I love the PokeGym blackout. It’s like PokePop or Bulbasnore sabotaged the video when you started talking bad about the PokeGym.

I find it interesting that you claim that there is 12,000 active Pokebeach members. There may be 12,000 members total, but I doubt more than 500 different people are posting each day.

I never thought about SixPrizes = Pojo. Blew my mind.

    • J-Wittz  → Matthew

I guess it’s not the total amount of active users, just total users in all. And yeah, I’m just really getting that pojo vibe from SP– it’s really good stuff :D

  22. Adam Capriola

I actually modeled the site around Pojo but tried to improve it by making it blog format, so you can actually comment on peoples articles.

Amen at pointing about some sub standard articles and bad views on the gym. Sure the ask the masters will get back to you with a ruling but it it is something that is not straight forward and no brainer they take forever to answer something. The beginning was really funny, keep up the good work as usual.

Hi there, I discover that your case is rather perceptive since it highlights a good deal of accurate data. By the way, was thinking whether you would love to interchange world-wide-web links with my internet portal, as I am searching to produce contacts to additional spear thing and gain ground for my web space. I do not mind you laying my world-wide-web links at the household page, just approving this links on this particular article is more than enough. Furthermore, would you be sort enough contact me at my web space should you are keen in the link exchange, I would very like that. Very best wishes from me and hope to hear from you shortly!
