Fast, Disruptive, Unexpected

Absol G LV.X Supreme Victors SV 141 Pokemon CardAbsol G LV.X is probably the most underrated card in Supreme Victors. Most people are just like “Ew Absol? Just play Luxray GL or something.” While Absol G doesn’t have as much flexibility as Luxray, it has a few things that make it stand out.

First is its speed. Because they are both Dark Pokémon, Absol can work with the starter, Honchkrow G, which allows it to set up easily. You generally grab things like Power Spray or Energy Gain and Poké Turn, for the reuse of Crobat G or Absol G LV.X. That way you can repeatedly “Darkness Send” against decks that rely on specific cards to win. Examples of such cards are Beedrill or LV.X’s or even cards that your opponent is hoping to topdeck. Power Spray is used to hinder your opponent’s set up or disrupt, which is our next topic.

Disrupting is always great. Imagine you’re playing against a deck that REALLY depends on that Claydol GE or the Uxie LA. They set up a Claydol GE and attempt to “Cosmic Power”, you play a Power Spray and shut down their draw for that turn. Instead, if they have not yet evolved to Claydol, drop a Crobat G and “Flash Bite” for 10 damage, followed by “Target Attack” from Honchkrow G to KO the Baltoy.

Honchkrow G Platinum PL 77 Pokemon CardYou also have “Darkness Send”, which is Absol G LV.X’s Poké-Power. Let’s say you’re up against Speedrill. They have one Beedrill set up and you “Darkness Send” and mill a Beedrill or two. There’s NO way to get them back. Also, you can use “Darkness Send” multiple times a game using cards such as: Poké Turn, Premier Ball and Aaron’s Collection.

The Attackers:

Absol G LV.X

“Darkness Slugger” can do 70 damage with a Special D Energy attached and a discard of one other Energy. I personally think that that is great. “Darkness Send”, as that we have discussed earlier, is very disruptive. “Faint Attack” is interesting as it can get around Mewtwo LV.X. “Doom News” isn’t too great, seeing as how your opponent’s Active can always retreat or switch out of it.

Mewtwo LV.X Legends Awakened LA 144 Pokemon CardMewtwo LV.X

A tech against SP’s. While playing 2-3 P Energy and the Majestic Dawn Mewtwo I think you’re all set.

Bannette

A Mewtwo LV.X counter while playing Mewtwo LV.X = Great. You]re already playing P Energies, so don’t waste the room for Ninetales MT, or Mismagius. Ninetales needs R Energies and Mismagius is risky.

Zangoose

Mainly a Gyarados tech to use “Invite and Strike” to bring up a Registeel and Knock it Out later.

On to the decklist…

I used to run Absol G Lv. X, and another good combo for this dark destroyer is to use Dusknoir FB to tie up the loose ends with it’s Cursed Wrath attack after discarding buckets of SP Pokemon with Darkness Slugger!

I like rocket profs idea. I wouldnt play bannette as a couter, just play dialgai g lv x. Its an sp after all and it shuts down mewtwo body. In addition it can be feed to dusknoir then

Absol G is the most underated card in the format. Everyone hovers over to decks like LuxApe, Palkia Lock, or Luxbox varients. But absol is great, it can disrupt and hit for a high of 80 with 2 speial darkness energies on it. It cam also grab easy prizes depending on the situation, doom news alows you to get aan auto knock out at the end of your opponents turn. But as you said they can retreat or somehow get out of the active. I have tried luxray gl in absol and it works great as well. You can pull anything up and KO or you can lock it withh roserade gl and stall while using absol next turn to discard key cards. Chatot G is really amazing in absol by viewing your opponents top 4 cards and then discarding them with absol. But one of the reasons I stopped playing this deck was because palkia lock was being played everywhere in my area, it completely shut down absol. Also, against sp, they can power spray key darkness sends. Which could change the entire course of the game. But it was a great article, I just feel that absol is a little to risky.

Sorry the Pokemon in the list weren’t showing up…I accidentally entered a ‘ instead of ” which made the Pokemon disappear. It’s fixed now. :)

You should definetly play at least 2 Chatot G. It allows you to hit the better cards more often. Essentially its choosing one of the top for minimum. You could even hit 2.

  8. Absol G also has a hard time against Gyarados, which has seen a huge uprising as of late. Sure, you can lost zone their pokemon rescues and night maintenance, but they still have 130 HP (a 2HKO for you) and they easily OHKO even your Lv X, needing only 10 more damage (crobat G, pluspower, expert belt) to get the prize on you.

The reason why luxray’s 60 damage is great is that that’s all it really needs with its pokemon power. Absol’s 60-80 damage max output isn’t really enough IMO to take down the majority of stage 1-2 decks out there.

I agree with Nardd but one thing i tech in a absol deck is a blaziken fb lv x, i just use 3 special dark and 1 fire for energy changes and 2 basic dark and 1 SP energy while i take out a tech like banette, Blaziken fb helps when you need attacker 2 just in case your absol line runs out or cant get set up. Also Blaziken does 80 automatically which is good to back up absol. I still prefer SP such as Blazeray though.

Absol G is a good deck, but I think your list is a little off.

I think Absol G should work like uxie donk, or turn 1 shuppet. Using lots of trainers to get up turn going. With unown Rs and lots of uxies with super scoop up. Just to keep your turn going and mill quickly.

Lets face it Absol is not a serious pokemon late game, its just not. Too low HP and dosnt hit for enough. So Absol should be able to disrupt early, and if not donk then just hope you mill the right stuff.

    Yeah chatot G would help.

My list of absol G is a little different, use Absol G 3-1, Garchomp C 2-1, dialga G 2-1, uxie 2-1, almost joa great against any deck of the moment, “Great absol G”

    • Power Swing  → Mário

I feel the best way to run absol g is in a 2-2 line. You get more discards and its more consistant.

Chatot G is a great idea Ben.

The main things that bug me about Absol are that it’s reliant on a Power (which can be shut off), it relies on flips, and its attacks are somewhat mediocre.

2/2 sounds like a good way to go to get more discard opportunities. I might even try using something like Raticate to get Poke Turns back (I think it gets trainers back?). I think you want to get as many chances to use its power as possible.

P.S. Power Swing, really good analysis up there. :)

  19. The best Mewtwo Lv.X counter is Mewtwo lv.X… No Toxicroak G Promo? Is a great card…

    • Power Swing  → French_Cookie

I must disagree with that statement. If you counter mewtwo with mewtwo than you will just be sitting there doing nothing until someone retreats. Bannette is the best due to the fact that IT CAN GRAB AN EASY PRIZE CARD. Mismagius is decent but you have to discard your energy gains which throws you off as well.

Milling isn’t that great of a strategy because your right best case scenario but worst case you just let them draw into what they need, and your not looking so great.

Why does everyone here focus on the milling aspect? It’s like a Luxray toolbox. Except it’s Absol. lolz. The differences are:
    10 HP difference
    Minus Gust of Wind
    Not Lightning
    Luxray takes advantage of Crobat’s
Absol take advantage over Gengars. 70 + 30 + a Flash Bite next turn = Skipped Fainting Spell.
Darkness Send(More like an added effect)
    you get Special Darks

Anyway I’m probably gonna Upadate this with my experience with cites. See ya!
