México City, CC’s 1st Place Report 19/12

Greetings from México!

This is ABSOLUTION and I’d like to share with the 6P community my 1st Place Report.

First of all, let me introduce a little bit about myself. I’ve been playing since I was 14, and now I’m a 19 year old Pokémon TCG Trainer. I’ve earned the right to participate in the World Championships twice in a row; once from México National Championship in 2008 and the other being 10th at LCQ this year.

Ok that’s a lot of chatter now let’s begin with the action!

My decklist consists of:

Pokémon: 23
2 Palkia G PL
1 Palkia G LV.X PL
2 Luxray GL RR
1 Luxray GL LV.X RR
3 Uxie LA
1 Uxie LV.X LA
1 Bronzong G PL
1 Crobat G PL
1 Absol G SV
1 Absol G LV.X SV
1 Lucario GL
1 Absol SW
4 Mesprit LA
1 Azelf LA
1 Azelf MT
1 Unown G GE
T/S/S: 26
1 Luxury Ball
4 Cyrus’s Conspiracy
4 Rosseane’s Research
1 Aaron’s Collection
1 Bebe’s Search
1 Night Maintenance
1 Time-Space Distortion
4 TGI Poké Turn
4 TGI Energy Gain
2 TGI SP Radar
3 TGI Power Spray
Energy: 11
3 Call
4 W
2 Lighting Energy
2 D Energy

I don’t know how many Masters were there, but there were nearly 25 tables so the tournament ran 6 rounds plus Top 8.

Palkia G LV.X Platinum PL 125 Pokemon Card1st Round vs ??? w/ GenGross

He opened with Honchcrow G and attacked with “Honcho’s Command” being his only Pokémon. I opened with Luxray GL played “Rosseane’s Research” for Crobat G and Uxie, “Flash bite” twice with Poké Turn, attached Energy Gain plus Energy and Bite for the win.

1-0

2nd Round vs Francisco A. w/ Flygon

This was a tough one. I “Bright Look” like 3 times to 1HKO his Baltoys with Palkia G’s “Pearl Breath” and Mesprit “Psychic Bind”. He played 2 Cynthia’s Feelings and boosted up a totally powered Flygon with Expert Belt attached to it. I “Flash Impact”, “Zen Blade” , and “Pearl Breath” it once to KO. Being 1-3 on Prize cards time’s up and I get the win.

2-0

3rd Round vs Miguel D. w/ Straight Dusknoir

When I saw him I knew I should be fast and furious. Knocking Out his Dusknoir LV.X would be the game for him because I do not run any stadiums. I go first with nothing but Lucario, I attach water and passed. He opens with Honchcrow G, Energy Gain, basic D Energy, and Rosseane’s.

At this point I thought it was game; he Flash Bites 3 times and Target Attacks Lucario for a total of 70 damage (it was close). I drew a SP Radar and played Rosseane’s and SP Radar for Luxray GL, Bronzong G and Uxie. I set Luxray, attached Lighting, Energy Gain, Galactic Switch the Water to Luxray, and Poké Turn Lucario. I used Uxie’s “Set Up” and Trash Bolt for 140. He played Rosseane’s for Baltoy and Duskull and passed.

I played Cyrus’s searching for SP Radar, played Luxray GL LV.X, “Bright Look” for Baltoy, set Palkia G used Bronzong’s G “Galactic Switch” to transfer a Water to Palkia G. I attached another Water and Pearl Breath. He played a Dusclops and a Uxie he uses “Set Up” (which I Sprayed) and passes. I Level Up Palkia G, Mesprit to “Psychic Bind” and “Hydro Shoot” his Dusclops. He told me he has nothing left and shook my hand to give me the win.

3-0

Azelf Mysterious Treasures MT 4 Pokemon Card4th Round Vs Rogelio E. w/ Flygon Rampardos

He’s a pretty good player and I’ve known him since I was in the senior Division, so I thought this might be a tough match. I started w/ Uxie and Call Energy for Absol G and Palkia G. He used Rare Candy to bring Nidoqueen in play and “Mega Punch” my Uxie for 60. I did not have any supporter in my hand at this time so I attached D Energy to Absol G and “Psychic Restore” for 50.

He played a special D Energy to Nidoqueen, played a Baltoy and Trapinch, and Mega Punched again to KO Uxie. I drew TSD leveled up Absol G, played Time-Space Distortion (2 heads) for Uxie and “Set Up”. I finally draw a Cyrus. I went for a Water, Energy Gain, and Cyrus, attached W to Palkia G, E Gain to Absol, and “Dark Slugger” for 60. He evolves to Claydol, BTS Weavile, attached Darkness to Nidoqueen, “Dark Engage” and KO’d Absol G.

I Cyrus for SP Radar, level up Palkia and play Mesprit to “Psychic Bind”, Pearl Breath to KO Nidoqueen. He never was able to get a Flygon because I used Hydro Shoot on his Vibrava, so the lock was closed until I drew my last prize.

4-0

5th Round vs ??? w/ BlazeRay

This game was really close. He Bright Looked 2 Palkias, I 1HKO’d 2 Blazikens. I was really mad both of my Azelfs were in my prizes to begin, so when I took my 2nd Prize I was very happy to see that it was Azelf MD. “Downer Material” shut down LuxBlaze; he misplayed 2 times, trying to “Psychic Restore”, and “Luring Flame” without the necessary energies. The game was really on my tide between Uxie LV.X and Palkia G 1HKOing all of his Pokémon.

5-0

Time-Space Distortion Mysterious Treasures MT 124 Pokemon Card6th Round vs Roberto S. w/ Luxray GL / Absol G / Honchcrow G

Pretty much the same as the last game. I opened with Uxie and Call Energy for both Pixie Bros; Azelf’s “Downer Material” is the key on mirror matches. When he did KO Azelf MT, TSD to get it back and seal the game the game.

6-0

Top 8 Vs Abraham C. w/ Shuppet Donk

Game 1-2 (very similar): I took a lot of time this game. It’s very simple to lock Shuppet; Mesprit “Psychic Bind” on Turn 1, then Rosseane’s Research playing Azelf MT and Uxie. As soon as he played his Shuppet with an Energy attached to it, as Pablo once said “Luxray’s Bait”.

7-0

Top 4 “Semi Finals” vs Rafael D. w/ GeChamp

Game 1. It’s terrible whenever you play a lonely Machamp player and he realizes to Rare Candy Machop and “Take Out”. It’s a shame every time this happens to me, I just Crobat drop, Lucario GL, and “Zen Blade” to counter this. We went 1-1 on prizes; I avoided 2 Shadow spell and he failed the flip once. At the end he Poltergeist my Uxie with 2 trainers in my hand…

Game 2. I really enjoy when the Machamp player puts all of his hope on T1 “Take Out” but misses. Palkia G based decks are strongly consistent, and this time I attached Unown G to guard Palkia G, “Pearl Breath” 5 times and win.

The time was up and we were sent to “Sudden Death”

Game 3: He started with nothing but Nidoran + and passed. I started with Luxray GL, attached Energy Gain, and Rosseane (I had 2 Poké Turn in my hand), but there were no Crobat G, so I got Azelf LA and Lighting Energy to Luxray, “Time Walk” for Crobat G, “Flash Bite”, Poké Turn, “Flash Bite”, Poké Turn, “Flash Bite”, and Bite my way to the finals.

8-0

Luxray GL LV.X Rising Rivals RR 109 Pokemon CardFinal Round Vs Roberto S. w/ Luxray GL, Absol G, Honchcrow G

Game 1:This game seems to take an eternity; we played 50 long minutes. Palkia G LV.X’s “Hydro Shoot” and Azelf’s “Downer Material” were all I needed to win.

Game 2: I opened with Mesprit and Call Energy, played Luxray GL and Call Energy for both Pixie Bros again (Uxie and Azelf MT). “Downer Material” one the very first turn of the game disrupts SP strategy a ton. We were 4-5 on prizes when time was called. He said “It’s Fair” and I won CC’s 9-0.

Props:
My deck based on Pablo’s Palkia lock 6P Decklist
Bright Look
TSD (the best card for me)
Azelf”s MT “Downer Material”

Slops:

“Take out”
Just 1 Luxray Gl LV.X

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading, I’m not that good posting articles, Good Luck Everyone!

I’m sorry, but TSD is so not needed in this deck lol.

I’d much rather run Aaron’s Collection, Night Maintenance, or Palmer’s Contribution.

  2. i don’t think so, i’ve been playing this deck about 6 times this year making 3 top 8 and 2 top 4, and tryn’ with everything, a day i found that every SP based decks(luxray/variants honchcrow absol, and shuppet) are always trying to KO azelf MT that’s why i use Tsd and maybe i get a bonus card (uxie, Mesprit) are always welcome; have you try it out? I also feature 1 NM and 1 Aaron’s collection

  3. My area is full of those stupid gengars, and very few people tech mankey SV, or Toxicroak G promo, i run 1-1 because of gengar weakness, it also may hit dark sluger t2, wich is clever when luxray is prized
i just used Absol G once, i want it to be a blaziken but i do not own one
    Merry X-Mas everyone!

Its nice to see you are utilizing some “rogue” techs, and I was wondering why it was in there, but can see the merit now.

  4. Zachary Slater

Eh, I don’t know. I’d prefer to run a 4th Call Energy than TSD. You already have two ways of taking stuff out of your discard (one trainer and one supporter) and you can’t search out TSD, so who says you’ll even top-deck it when you need it?

Opposed to searching out Aaron’s with Cryrus’s Conspiracy.

Great job man, deck seems nice. Absol =/ I would have played a third palkia g though. But great job on winning!

  10. Gallade Thanks a ton man, those pesky gengars really make me out of my seat, absol SW was my shuppet counter or my T1 win to ghastly whit just a rossane’s,

Power Swing, yeah i get maddly by not playing the 3rd palkia G, on 5th round i got bright looked twice on my palkias so it was very sad,

Woodstock You’re right i must top deck the TSD, but there’s a little risk high benefit from include just 1, i know it’s maybe inconsistent, but I use to NM only my W or L energy, i discard lots when hidro shooting or trash boltn’, but surely a second Aaron will be included next time

  11. Clinton Chan

Great report with the guts to post a list. The report was in depth and very informative. Just kind of surprised you run 4 lv Xs without a single Premier Ball.

  12. Spadeace/Chan thanks man, sometimes i asked that to myself, i tought there’s no need of premier ball since i ran 2 SP radars plus Call, but i now run 2 premier balls and no Absol G.

  13. Eon Edd

Believe him, here in mexico there’s lots of gengars lol.

    LOTS!

Congrats my friend, you’re one of the best i ever know.

  17. Hey Adam, Thanks a ton for editing some mistakes of my own, posting this on 6P is the best gift of the day!
I won’t run Absol G again, like Woodstock says i need another NM or Aaron’s C.
Thanks again and merry X-Mas to you.

  18. John Kettler

Based on what I’ve seen, Palkia Lock seems to be really strong in any metagame that’s scarce on DialgaChomp matchups (hence you and Pablo’s 9-0 wins).

    Great job.

  19. Thanks Dude!
yeah palkia lock is strongly Consistent, i like it, i fear DialgaChomp but certainly just 1 player here plays it, Good luck!

  30. Koay Ze Nian

    If theres a lot of dialga/garchomp decks. there’s always houndoom g ;D

  31. Zachary Slater

I agree with Poker Face. Houndoom G is a beast of a card.

I made T4 with my Palkia Lock list but fell in the finals to a LuxChomp list.

Is Mew-Two Lv. X played in your area? Whats your counter to that?

  35. Zachary Slater

The two most popular Mewtwo Lv. X counters are Mismagius SF and Banette PL.

Personal preference mostly, but I prefer MIsmagius since it requires no energy.

  36. SMGausch

Is Mew-Two Lv. X played in your area? Whats your counter to that?

  37. Yeah, it’s actually played, and i have no counter cuz it’s just a card i know it might be game loss with a single mewtwo LvX, but there are lot of players without mewtwo LvX, so if i could have a decent match-up vs anything i won’t be afraid to Mewtwo LVX nor Dialga G
sometimes a bad match up is that a game loss…

  39. Zachary Slater

It’s a lot worse than you think. I got cut out of Top Cuts because of Mewtwo Lv. X.

As Pablo convinced me, I’d rather lose a bit of consistency than give a straight auto-loss to my opponent.

    It’s really only two cards.

    • SMGausch  → Zachary

yeah, but I guess you could hope they play other pokemon down or you get a quick lead and can win with some well played bright looks and sniping with palkia g.

  42. good job!
you dont really need 3 mesprits, uxies uness 1 oof them is the other version (non holofoil) because they aren’t the grewatest but good deck

Palkia G = CC Win, apparently. Congrats I always love decks with a good power lock in them

  47. Hey Absolution, congrats on now two CC wins. However, there’s something I got to know about this deck. Do you play this deck very differently when you reach Top Cut? Because if you “Lost Cyclone” all of your Mesprits away Game 1, doesn’t that kill how the deck works in Games 2 and 3?

  50. SMGausch, Thanks man, i do love GGW, Glaceon and Palkia lock cuz’ of the same “POWER LOCK”, it’s always obnixious to the oponnent

    Lamar, THX man :D!
Nope, actually whenever new game is started all of your cards in the “lost zone” get it’s way back to the deck, so when game 1 is done i shuffle my mesprits, uxies, azelfs in to the deck again, so the strategy is the same

  51. SMGausch

Lamar, I heard the same thing and that would be huge drawback to the deck unless you lost zone some very important cards for them.

  54. ABSOLUTION, How are you doing with only a 2-1 Palkia G Line? I have a similar list to yours, but I run 3-1. I’m considering taking out a Palkia G for either an Uxie LA (I run 2-1) or a Chatot MD.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

  56. The Thunder

i think u should run a 3-1 palkia g line, it gives more consistency and take out uxie lvx, i dont think it is needed in this deck. and great win

I would keep Uxie LV.X, I think it’s a good card in this.

  59. SMGausch

Uxie level x with lucario in play hits psychic weak Pokemon for 120!!!!!!!! Much needed against Machamp, GG, etc. Keep it in their great card, plus you have trade off.

  60. i like the way the deck perform with just 2-1 Palkia, but i got aUxie line of 3-1, wich performs lots better, once i just run 2-1 of Uxies, and seriously it’s not the same, i haven’t tried the 3-1 Palkia line yet, but i’m sure you can deal with 2-1
    Cheers, and Good luck!
