Making Progress!

Hey guys! I apologize for the lack of new articles the past few days; there are actually a couple good looking articles waiting to be formatted and thrown up here, but I’ve been preoccupied with configuring the message boards the past few days.

I gotta tell you, they are shaping up to be AWESOME.

So far, I’ve done quite a few things…

1. Settled upon a color scheme and icons which pleased me (not an easy thing).

2. Created all the categories and subcategories I think we’ll ever need.

3. Uploaded a good amount of default avatars (mostly sprites from the video games).

4. Installed a bunch of add-ons, some of which are too cool:

LiveTopic: If you are reading a thread and someone posts a new comment, it will appear on your screen in real time; no reloading required! It also shows an icon for posts that have received comments within the last 5 minutes.

Tournaments and League Ladder: The site I originally used for the league ladder deleted our ladder and was a weak site anyway. The new software I got is all run on this actual site, so it should be a lot better. Not quite sure how it works yet, but I created the ladder so you guys can check it out and start playing for ranking if you want. It runs off the same system that Pokémon uses for point rankings, which is pretty cool.

The tournament software looks nice too. It lets you create single elimination tournaments (no round robin unfortunately). It should be great for 8 to 16 person tournies. I am going to assign people to be tournament directors. These people will be able to create new tournaments at any time and they can probably be run in one night easily.

Forum Stats: You can look at some pretty in depth stats, including top people with infractions. I would love to see that on Pokégym. ;)

I’ve done a bunch of other stuff too. Most of it is kinda boring, but I think it adds to the quality of the message board.

I still need to do a lot more things with the message boards, but they shaping up to be killer.

If you’ve made an account on here (WordPress), you will still need to make a separate account on the boards. There actually is some sort of plugin I might be able to install that will create a bridge between here and there, but I’m not sure if it will work.

So please check out the boards and register if you have not already. :)

It would be nice if you could just link the dashboard/6prize and forum accounts altogether, but that would probably be asking you to bite off more than you can chew atm.

I just looked into the WordPress/vBulletin add-on a little more and it doesn’t do what we need.

What is does is when someone registers on vbulletin, it creates an account for them on WordPress too. We want something that transfers WordPress accounts over to vBulletin.

Oh well, it shouldn’t be too big of an issue.

I don’t think people would be too opposed to transferring their accounts over to the Forums. Just re-register again, it shouldn’t be too bad.

My internet has been acting up the last few days so I just saw the new Forums set up, looks great Adam, I hope I speak for everyone using the site when I say I appreciate all the time you put into this. It’s one great site. Also if there is every anything I can do to help let me know, and I’ll start by finding more time to post articles, maybe some weekly play testing result, any suggestions?
