1st Place, Georgia States – Juniors

My dad picked me up from school and we went and got my mom from work and got on I-75 about 3pm.

It was a very boring drive, look a tree or yet another big sign for Pecans or truckers.

We got into our hotel about 10:30 that night, went and got some pizza and ate it and play tested a little before bed.

Got up the next morning and made it to the event just in time.

First Round
I started out with a Blaziken FB and an Unown G and my opponent started out with a Mr. Mime and a Shuppet active. First turn he attached enough PlusPowers and an Expert Belt and was able to 1HKO my Blaziken! So I was left with an Unown G active, I got lucky and used a Rosanne’s to get out a Luxray and a Blaziken. I let him knockout the Unown G and then next turn I used Luring Flame to bring up his Regice and burned it. Two turns later he played a Warp Point and sent up a Shuppet 1HKO me.

He played four Mr. Mimes, so I bright Looked up what I could for a KO, by that time I took 4 Prizes. I did another Luring Flame on his Regice and since his Warp Points were prized I was able to use Garchomp C to snipe the Mimes off the bench. Then took the Regice for the win.

Second Round
I honestly do not remember anything about this round, I was not feeling very well and was thinking about dropping.

Lunch
There was a Chick-fil-A in the parking lot and we went there and got some food to go for lunch. We ate in the car, I was feeling really bad, my back hurt and I was just feeling like crap, so I drank some of my milk shake and my dad gave me a Motrin.

Third round
I won, but same thing, but I really wanted to drop by this point and I remember nothing.

Fourth Round
I played a Cursegar, here is what happened, he started with a Gastly and had 2 more on his bench. I had a Blaziken FB and nothing but junk in my hand. He Pitched Darked me and I could not use what little I had. After he broke the Trainer Lock I did get set up, but he had too big of a prize count lead on me, I was starting to catch up with him when time was called. Now I really wished I had dropped.

Fifth Round
Played a LuxChomp, the end. Possibly the worst setup I have ever had, he had one of the best, no hope.

After that I was pretty annoyed, like really annoyed because I knew that I lost a lot of points and it made the long drive back even worse. So I asked my dad if we could go and put my stuff in the car so we could get out as fast as possible when my brother and mom finished their matches. I was really feeling sick now.

So we went back inside the store and it turns out I took 4th, so I was in Top Cuts! We went back out to the car and got my stuff so they could look at my deck.

Sixth Round
I was paired with Jacob B. who is also from Florida, and was undefeated for the day. It was all a blur at this point, we both had average setups and we traded prizes, it was a long game. At the end we were tied at 1-1 Prizes. He had an Infernape 4 LV.X on his bench and did an Intimidating Roar, everything on my bench was KO friendly. Thankfully I had a Power Spray and was able to take him on the next turn.

Second game he got a terrible set up, started with a Bronzong G and I had a prefect setup and swept him with Bright Looks.
Really good and tough games.

Seventh Round
I thought, crap, I am going to lose because this guy is really good and he beat me like a rented mule in Round Five.
First game we both got really good setups, but I was able to Knock Out his Garchomps as fast as possible. I can Power Spray a Bright Look, but not a Dragon Rush. In the end I won.

Game three, he had a bad setup and I was able to Bright Look up his Garchomps again and used Jet Shoot for quick knock outs.

So I went from thinking hooray we are going to get home by 11pm to winning the event!

It was a really hard event for me, in some ways it was harder than Florida since I did not know anyone there and the metagame is different in Georgia than Florida.

The trip home sucked, I was tired and wanted to get home to my nice warm bed. I slept most of the way home and we got in about 4 that morning.
