A Match made in the Water; Blastoise + Feraligatr Prime

pokebeach.comAfter the scans of Pokémon HS: UNLEASHED were online, I instantly saw the Blastoise in the set, which is also the Prerelease promo given out to all players, and I immediately thought of it’s similarity to Garchomp C LV.X; except for a crucial fact, you add the 2 energies to your hand instead of discarding them, which had perfect synergy with a card from Heart Gold/Soul Silver; Feraligatr Prime.

Feraligatr Prime’s Poké-Power, “Rain Dance”, allows you to attach water energy as many times as you want per turn (and isn’t able to be blocked by Team Galactic Invention Power Spray, due to the fact you can use it any number of times during your turn), which makes attacking almost effortless, as long as you have the energies to do so.

The star of the deck, Blastoise (13/95) from HS: UNLEASHED is your main attacker; for 2 W Energy and 2 C Energy, he can return 2 of those Energy Cards to your hand and do 100 damage to any Pokémon your opponent controls; 20 more damage than Garchomp C LV.X. It also doesn’t have Garchomp’s limitation of not being able to attack the turn after, and due to “Rain Dance” he can hit for 100 multiple turns in a row since you can always re-attach the Energy Cards to Blastoise the next turn to do another 100.

Blastoise also has a Poké-Power: “Wash Out”. While it’s not as useful, it lets you move a W Energy attached from one of your Benched Pokémon to your Active Pokémon. It’s not a horrible ability, especially if you’re running low on Energy cards to attack with.

Here’s a Skeleton Decklist:

I have this deck built but i revolved mine around speed not sustainability bc in the current format speed is important. The floatzel line is great but more of a hassel than help. but other than that i like your built but i recommend putting BTS instead of dawn stadium.

and also i recommend squirtle SW and totadile MT bc they both hey free attacks and SW squirtle helped me against Palkia Lock.

ive been playtesting blastoise for about a week now and i found the best way of attaching energy is to attach it to your bench then “wash out” to your active this is great for getting energy out of your hand so you can claydol for more cards. Plus say you need 1 more energy but you have 3 water in your hand to get rid of. “rain dance” it on feraligatr then claydol. If you get the energy “rain dance” to the blastoise and then “wash-out” to the active blastoise, but if you don have the energy then you dont have to worry about losing your energy if blastoise gets knocked out.

an crobat is a good card for this deck bc SP lv xs have 110 hp not 100 and if you want to snipe say lux x on the bench or active you may want to do that extra 10 damage so lux doesnt kill you next turn

You really need to put in the Floatzel from Unleashed. It works so much smoother and you can tech in a 1-1-1 or 1-0-1 Feraligatr Prime. I would probably put in BTS instead of Dawn (You benefit from it more) and Interviewer’s Questions…Nice deck though.

floatzel can be powersprayed though and in my list speed is no issue when building a claydol, blastoise and feraligatr

Good deck i have a gator done deck and is similar to this and was thinking about having a friend use it for battle roads but was not sure can someone give me some suggestions

With raindance and blastoises massive retreat cost, I recommend putting some Super Scoop ups into that list. with BTS they can really get you out of a tight situation. Other than that, this deck looks legit. the 2 stage 2's that you need to get going are your only pain in the ass. To remedy this, I would really like to see some pokemon collector/ pokemon communication combo to get out your stage 2's asap.

    -4 pokedrawers
    – 2 dawn stadiums

    + 2 BTS
    +4 SuperScoop up

ssu is not necessary bc with the right trainer and supporter base you can turn a blastoise around with 4 energy in 1 turn. Plus Feraligatr and Blastoise are tanks no need to retreat and thats why there are 2 warps for those few situations you need to

Have you tried fitting in 1 Return Unown (HS)? Searchable heal with Dawn Stadium and Gator. :D

I agree, I've been messing around with this deck for fun and its actually turned out to be really promising. The Floatzel is a MUCH better choice than Feraligatr, trying to set up a stage 2 tech every game is not easy.

you can't say that speed isn't an issue. Floatzel is a stage 1 so its going to be quicker to set up. No matter how fast your deck is a stage 1 is always easier and faster to set up than a stage 2. Floatzel also has free retreat. Not only that but if you have to use it as a second attacker he does the same amount of damage for one less energy.

Floatzel GL is too slow to set up, just like the deck. An 100 snipe isn't enough to OHKO stuff like Luxray GL Lv.X or Garchomp C Lv.X, and if you pick a prize off the bench you'll leave the main attacker unharmed and able to keep destroying Blastoise, which is weak to Luxray in the first place. Why not run DCE? And those Dawn Stadiums are pointless IMO, you won't heal much and BTS is needed more to actually set up this deck. Interviewer's Question is also a little redundant if you've already maxed out Roseanne's, why not add more Crocanaw MT? They do pretty much the same thing a Interviewer's but they don't use up your supporter for the turn and they allow Feraligatr to get out faster with BTS in play.

I don't see Blastoise having any impact on the current metagame, especially when a much better sniper exist, Garchomp C Lv.X. Garchomp is much faster to set up and doesn't need the bench Feraligatr to keep it going, it also has an amzaing Poképower and can be Pokéturned, plus it's not weak to Luxray. I see no reason to use slow clunky Blastoise when you could be using Garchomp.

All of your Pokemon have no weakness. Adds a bit more stability to the deck…
