I went to a Battle Roads in the Palm Harbor area today. I had two deck choices when I arrived: DonkFly, which consists of a 2-2 line of Donphan, and a 3-2-3-1 line of Flygon, or a CurseGar deck. I decided to play with my DonkFly deck. This is the list:
Pokémon:25
x1 Uxie LA |
T/S/S:23
x1 Broken Time-Space |
Energy: 12 |
Yes, I should have had a 4-4 line of Donphan, and maybe some other adjustments, but I didn’t have the cards.
Round 1: 1-0
pokemon-paradijs.comHe was using a Torterra LV.X deck, and I had a Nidoran as my active, so I got out Donphan, attached an energy, and destroyed his set up. I placed 2 more energy on Donphan and an Expert Belt to KO all of his Pokémon. Later I learned that this was his first tournament.
Round 2: 1-1
I was matched up against a Donphan deck, I had a Mesprit start and I had the worst draws possible. They where all PlusPowers, so he got out Donphan and took out all of my Pokémon.
Final Round: 1-2
This was one of the closest matches I have ever played in my entire life, and the longest. We had practically everyone watching! He was using a SpreadGar deck. I would tell you the whole match, but it’s just too long.
At the end, I had Donphan out with 1 Fighting energy, and he had his last Gengar LV.X active. Donphan had no damage (thanks to Nidoqueen) and Gengar had 60 HP left. I KO’d Gengar, who was belted, so I drew 2 Prizes, leaving me with 1 Prize left, ad all I had to do to get it was 1HKO a Crobat G, because Donphan was belted. But he only needed 1 more prize too, so he rolled for his Fainting Spell, and rolled a heads and won.
I ended up having a tie for 4th place with a person I could have easily beat, which would give me 4th place and 2 Unleashed boosters, but I split the prize with the person and we both placed 4th, but since I had been so nice, they gave me 2 boosters for outstanding moral fiber! And some people say it doesn’t pay to be nice! I had a great time, and got a Tyranitar Prime and a Palkia in trades!
Pros:
.I placed 4th
.I got two UL boosters and pulled a Magmotar, and a RH Ursaring
.I scored some decent trades
.I had a great time
Cons:
.Juniors had no top cuts L
.I didn’t get any Donphans!
Just off the top of my head I would say max out the BTS, choose either reversals or luxray's line but not both and add in 4 pokemon communication and your list will most likely become more consistant. Other than that it sounds like it works pretty well for you.
Also, if you are going to run Luxray, you need 4 Poke Turns. Lux isn't that good at all without them.
Nice report! Surely, your round 3 match must've been very epic.
As for the list, I would really consider some changes. The changes I would agree with Michael Scot Masacre. Either run Reversal or Luxray, but not both. If you decide to run Luxray, then change the reversals to Poketurns. You should also run 3-4 BTS. 1 isn't enough in a deck like this. Consider these changes and you have an even more awesome deck.
Of course, the report was well-written. I did enjoy reading it.
like others say, this deck tried to do too many at once. Which I believe is the reason for your loss. You tried to fit in the Power Locking aspect with the Mesprit, with Luxray GL Lv.X for disruption, along with 4 Pokemon Reversals . If you would have just dropped the 1-1 Line of Luxray with 2 Lighting and Mespirt to max out BTS and add a 3rd maybe 4th candy, you would have had a much better result. However, a great article to read.
yeah the others are right, decks with a lower number of different pokemon are often faster and better, i think ur deck only tries to show many nice cards, but theres no clear struction, but anyway, good article, i hope youll put in the poketurns, the nicest thing on luxray is the power
oh i see ur just playing for less than a half of a year, so for playing that short time ur very very good!
I made all of the suggested adjustments! Thanks for the help!
