Mark Your Calendars – Underground is here…

Hey guys and gals,

I know things have been quiet regarding SixPrizes Underground lately, but that’s mostly because I’ve been busy doing some behind the scenes work, gearing up for the launch.

Things are pretty much in place and I think we’re finally ready to go, so mark your calendars and
join the event on Facebook:

Tuesday, September 28th at 9 AM

That’s this coming Tuesday!

To commemorate the launch, I am giving away a FREE 1 month membership to the first 301 people that sign up before October 2nd.

There are over 400 people registered as free members and we get about 1,500 people a day to the site (many of whom are not registered yet), so I fully expect the free 1 month membership spots to run out.

I will not be making any exceptions past the first 301 people. This simply means you won’t get a free month if you’re the 302nd person… not a big deal.

pokemonelite2000.comThe reason I’m doing this is because I want to give people an opportunity to check out Underground to see if it’s right for them, and also to get feedback. This is the first time we’re doing anything like this, so I think it’s essential to get people’s opinions on what we’re doing and how to improve things.

Chris Fulop (US National Champion 2007, 2nd Worlds 2004) will be writing the first article that Tuesday, so you know it’s going to be a good one.

Full details on everything will be presented on Tuesday, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments or e-mail me at adam@sixprizes.com.

Thanks!

This was on my mind too… if I’m already signed up, do I need to sign up again for Underground? Do I get the free trial?

      • Adam Capriola  → Eelis

Yeah it’s my bad for making things confusing. Right now everyone has a free account which will give you limited access to stuff.

You will need to sign up for a full Underground account, it’s basically adding a product on top of your free account in terms of how I have things configured.

Right now you’re signed up with a free account. We will be releasing Underground articles for people with free memberships maybe once a month.

A full underground account is different and will give you access to more stuff.

It’s my fault for making that confusing, the old signup box I had said Underground login and I should have just made it say “login.” That’s my bad, sorry.

I think you should add maybe like, some live web chats with winners and other special guests? Maybe some pod casts? I think you will need more than just articles to really make this worth it.

This is something I have really been considering doing and will hopefully do in the near future.

I know it’s pretty easy to make webcasts with UStream and I could have staff join me over Skype for this, but I’m still figuring out exactly how all that works. I am working on it though!

so it means we’ll have to sign in at 9 AM to get a free one, huh?
cool a month of underground free =3

    • Adam Capriola  → Sergio

Yea 9 AM would guarantee you get a free month, but I think if you register anytime on Tuesday you’ll be safe.

Articles you have to pay for, for pokemon? This is the worst idea I’ve ever heard of in my life.

I’m guessing you love testing for hours on end? I’m guessing you win every big tournament you go to? Not saying it’s necessarily going to be worth it, but there are many reasons it could, so you might as well be one of those first 301.

I haven’t been playing for that long. And playtesting > articles. If you don’t get that your probably not very good at the games you play. The people who are good and write worthwhile articles playtest like crazy

        • Martin Garcia  → joe

I would normally agree that playtesting is better than articles, except when those articles are wrtitten by pros, like in this case.
Also, you act as if you have to pay 50 dolars per article man, arent you exaggerating a little bit there?
Why do people buy a sprots magazine? do they expect to be pros just by reading?
Not likely, but its always nice to hear the point of view of an expert.
In short, take it easy, im sure it willbe cheap, so whats a few bucks a month?

        • joe horth joe horth  → Martin

I am 17 and In high school for one, two playtesting helps you figure out what decks are good what ones aren’t.

        • Adam Capriola  → joe

I agree with you that playtesting is necessary. There are no shortcuts around that.

But like Martin said, the articles are going to be written by winning players and it will help you save a lot of time trying to figure out what decks are good, what lists are good, etc… and that will give you more time to focus on playtesting matchups.

You do what you want man, I am signing up. I have already seen a few things that make me excited about the line up for the Underground.

      COUNT ME IN!!!!!

Wait I don’t get it. How do I sing up. I don’t have facebook, or I am in already because I have my free account here?

  5. John Kettler

While there’s some validity to the “cutting corners” argument, I’ve had a recent discussion with friends about my involvement. This opened my eyes to the _real_ use of it:

6P Underground is a solid resource NOT because it bridges you to success, but because it gives you the tools needed to build your OWN bridge to success. This site knows metagaming; this site knows in-game skill; this site knows deck creativity and structure. We may be your private tutors, but in the end, it’s your performance that counts, and that’s your own unique take on things.
