pokebeach.comWelcome to today’s COTD, I’ll be reviewing Entei & Raikou LEGEND. Just for the sake of time, I will be abbreviating as ERL. ERL is a Legend card with 140 HP, which is nice, but nothing spectacular for a Legend. It’s got a weakness to Water and Fighting, which hurts because it receives double the damage from Palkia G, both Kingdra, Gyarados, Machamp and Donphan, so it hurts. However, Machamp will already be able to 1HKO it. Since it’s a Legend, your opponent will collect 2 Prizes when it’s KO’d.
ERL’s first attack, “Detonation Spin” for RC does 90 damage at the cost of discarding one R energy attached
to it. Pretty good value and not a bad attack by any means, but I don’t think many people will play this card for it’s first attack. ERL’s second attack is where this card really shines. For LC, “Thunder Fall” will do 80 damage to each Pokémon in play with Poké-Powers. However, you must discard all energies attached to ERL. I think it’s worth it, though. When in the right deck, it can give you multiple KOs. 80 Damage will allow you to KO many Pokémon including Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit, Crobat G, Sunflora, Skuntank G, etc.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, this card was included in a few top 32 decks at worlds as well, so it definitely has potential.
Modified: 3.5/5 (I think this card is good, but Legends just haven’t received much support. Hopefully that will change.)
Draft: -/5 HGSS draft is long gone
Unlimited: 1/5 (Most Legends in general aren’t good in this format, and this card is no exception.)

I was undefeated at Nationals, going 3-0 before running into two Luxchomp decks with ERL teched in. I was leading in prizes in both games before getting quintuple and quadruple killed by Thunder Fall. I was playing Blastoise with lots of Floatzles and Claydols sitting on the bench. Let’s just say losing 4 or 5 Pokemon in one turn in two consecutive games ruined my day.
However, that was last year. In the current format I don’t think that this card will have much success. It is OHKOed by both Machamp and Donphan for two prizes.

Not only that, but now Claydol is gone, so that’ll be one less card.

Thunder fall BEST attack in the format LEGEND´s are quite dificult to get out aswell…
4 out of 5
venny kid
Take Out doesn’t OHKO a Legend, because Legends aren’t:
Basic Pokemon
Evolved Pokemon
Pokemon SP
Level X
They are their own type, which means many cards can’t search for them. You can’t start with them because they’re not Basic. You need 2 at once to play them. They have double weakness and loose 2 prizes instead of one. Its too dangerous to Belt them to add damage because 3 prizes for one Pokemon it way too many. And that’s without factoring in each individual Legend’s attacks.
Thunder Fall hits you too, remember. So you can loose your Crobats, Uxie, Azelf, etc…
Legends were an after-thought of the HGSS sets. Arceus received more support from his set than ALL Legends from 4 sets combined. Sad. Unplayable.

uhhh… take out says that a pokemon is ko’ed if the pokemon is an “unevolved pokemon”… and LEGENDs are considered unevolved pokemon
Dakota Streck
Yeah, they are unevolved. In unlimited, Celio’s can search for them I believe.

I think you need to study the rules some more: http://compendium.pokegym.net/
I’m just trying to help you out, you seem to be a little lost on what some cards really do and how the rulings work.
