Hey Guys! Peter Bae here to write a Card of the Day article. Today’s card topic is Technical Machine TS-2 from Legends Awakened.
Technical Machine TS-2 saw some play last season, but, this season, it seems to have completely disappeared from the format for some mysterious reason. It seems that now this card has more use than ever and I’ll get to you why:
pokemon-paradijs.comTechnical Machine TS-2, ultimately called “Devoluter”, is an essential tool this format, I believe. This nifty Trainer card is a Technical Machine. Like the TM machines from the actual game, they will give your Pokémon a different attack. This one gives your Pokémon the attack called “Devoluter” obviously. “Devoluter” lets you choose your opponent’s evolved Pokémon and return the highest evolution stage card to the hand, excluding LV.X Pokémon.
Why is this so useful this format? This format is the perfect format for this card to be teched into almost any deck. Right now, the format is flooded with stage 1 and 2 decks, like VileGar, Machamp, and Gyarados, and this card will almost guarantee you a Knock Out without extending your hand too far, or having the risk of being caught by that annoying “Fainting Spell”. You can attack your opponent’s Gengar for 80 or higher damage, and next turn devolve their Gengar to Knock it Out since their stage 1 form will only have 80 HP.
Yes, I do realize that it is a Trainer card and, against VileGar, it might not be usable, but many decks now carry 1-1 Dialga G LV.X tech or another tech to Knock Out a Vileplume. Worst comes worst, you can always attach it before the locks set up. Of course, against other non-lock decks, it is even better. Having trouble dealing with a 150 HP Machamp Prime? No worries, just attack it for 80 with your Uxie with an Expert Belt, put it back into the deck, then “Devolute” their Machamp Prime for the Knock Out. Gyarados annoying you? Don’t worry, this will be a quick fix. Use your Crobat G 3 times, then “Devolute” it for a Knock Out.
Wait! That last thing was the main reason why this card should be teched in your deck! Gyarados is starting to flood the meta and, with Devoluter, you will be easily be able to tame that Gyarados that has been constantly annoying you and frustrating you.
In this format, I rate this card 3.5/5.
Guys, remember to e-mail peterbae6P@Hotmail.ca with decklists, single cards, or just ideas on what articles to write about and I’ll be sure to respond to you and tell you if I will be using it to write an article. Of course, if I write your idea, you will be mentioned in the article.

I would have to agree this is a great card. I love when the opponent uses a rare candy. Makes life much easier. I run a Vilgar Deck. I have this teched in with my Gengar Prime. Just to get rid of those magic carps. Sends them straight to the lost zone. If they don’t get gyrados out of there hand after devolution. I just hurl it into darkness…..Problem solved…
Peter Bae
hahaha :p but I dont know how well it works in VileGar as your ideal starter is always Spiritomb and you want to get that Vileplume ASAP, but if it works, it works!

I usually lay the initial 30 damage on Gyrados. Then I Seeker my Vileplume as long as Broken Time Space is in play. I then lay my Tech machine on Gengar Prime. Devoulte them and straight to the Lost Zone Magic Carp. It is usually a play no expects. This is not something that happens first few moves. Usually i stall with Spritomb and Gengar SF just so i can spread the damage and fainting spell till I get the cards i need. Twins helps me to especially for the fact that I tend to sacrifice my Sprirtomb.

I’m using this one on my Porygon-Z Promo Deck… It runs with 4-4 Evoluter/Devoluters. So Overload does 40 plus the number of TM’s attached to it

Nice review, it is strange you don’t see this card around much. Sounds like it could be very useful.

I’ve thought more than once that this is an excellent tech against Gyaraods in any Gengar Prime deck. I really expect its popularity to increase if Lost World is actually released since it’s an easy way to defend against Gyarados and trainer lock is actually a hindrance to LostGar decks. That said, it doesn’t help you at all against the SP matchup, which is sad. It also won’t help against that Gengar X they’ve leveled up into. Still, it’s a decent card that has its uses.

Yes it is absolutely horrible against SP since it doesnt do anything (or any other decks that doesn’t evolve). Against VileGar, it is still very good because you can stop Devolute their Gengars, unless the Lv.X is out. But having that Devoluter allows you to have more options in dealing with “Fainting Spell”

TS-2 is pretty much a powered down Ancient Technical Machine – Rock, isn’t it? The only difference between the two cards was that ATM – R required a C energy, but devolved all of your opponent’s pokemon down a level, which IMO is worth it. In addition, Lv.X’s weren’t around back then, so this card lost even more power.
Still a good card, just overshadowed by an older, better version IMO.

lol it’s all we got now xD and it works :D shouldn’t that be all that matter? :P No point in looking at out of date old cards :D
Dakota Streck
Yeah, but it brings back a lot of memories (I had played this card heavily quite a bit when it was in the format).

Yes! This card has won me multiple games in premier events… It has also been food for Junk Arm in SP match ups… But, I love it nonetheless! Reprint, please!
