WOTM Results for February 2012

Sup everyone? I am particularly stoked right now since it’s a beautiful day outside (thank you global warming!) and I’ve got the tallies from the new Writer of the Month system we implemented this month. Remember, we are no longer doing an end-of-the-month poll, but instead are adding up the ratings from each authors’ articles published during the month.

Drumroll, please…

You are NOT the father! Oops… I mean:

1st – a hahn @ +63
2nd – Ross Gilbert @ + 47
T-3rd – Carl Scheu @ +17
T-3rd – Adam Bigott @ +17
5th – Zack Ayello @ +15
6th – Joe Yang @ +14
T-7th – Max Douglas @ +13
T-7th – Roarkiller @ +13
T-9th – Akane @ +12
T-9th – Grant Manley @ +12
T-9th – Alex Holdway @ +12
12th – Christian D @ +11
13th – Stephan Blake @ +10
14th – Kenny Wisdom @ +9
15th – Amphy @ +8
16th – Rahul Reddy @ +3

Congrats everyone!

pokemon-paradijs.comOverall I think I liked how this new system worked. No method is ever going to be perfect, but it’s an improvement and a step in the right direction. It rewards you for quality and quantity, and it doesn’t matter what time of the month you write.

Before, people would try to write articles toward the end of the month, right before the WOTM poll was opened up, so their articles would be most fresh in the readers minds and garner the most votes. Now, it’s irrelevant when your article is published, which is way more fair.

As always, if you have any suggestions for making improvements to the system, let me know, but I’m pretty happy with the results!

And of course, everyone who wrote will be getting a free 1-month Underground subscription. Yes, even you Rahul! I really appreciate the effort everyone puts forth, and the least I can do is give you some kind of reward (besides bragging rights and an ego boost).

If you’d like to write for 6P, check out the instructions here. We’re always looking for more writers.

In other news…

States are THIS Saturday!

Good luck everyone! Make sure to get enough sleep on Friday and play the deck you’re most comfortable with. And make sure to bring a notepad and pen so you can take notes and write an epic tournament report!

For a listing of tournament locations near you, check this page.

I should be going to PA States, so hopefully I’ll see some of you there. I’m planning on playing a theme deck since I mainly just want to get Play Points so I can play at Nationals. (I really hate that 10 point requirement by the way…)

I guess that’s about it. Thanks for reading/voting/being awesome!

P.S. I almost forgot, have a new editor on board: Liriane! Hopefully articles will have a few less typos now… it’s been mainly me and Innocent_Shine holding fort for the past few months.

Theme deck battles are the greatest thing.

But the Next Destinies ones are too good :/

Adam, you get a lot of the credit for creating such a great place to read about Pokemon. I enjoy most, if not all the articles regardless of the author. I know writers try their best, even though there will always be room for improvement. I wish you, and all other contributors, continued succes! Special shout out to John Kettler who is also one amazing contributor.
