New Revenue Share Program

I was hoping to be able to make an announcement about 6P dice being available around this time, but I’m having some issues communicating with the manufacturer and will need to give them another call on Monday. Hopefully this news is better anyway…

Did anyone get the Dodrio thumbnail? 3.0? Anyone??

As you may have noticed, I removed all the Google ads from the site when I launched SixPrizes 3.0 about a month ago. This forced me to think of alternative ways to bring revenue to the site and one of my ideas was to try using eBay affiliate links in the articles.

(eBay pays a small commission if people click your links then bid on or buy items.)

Basically, I removed the PkmnCards overlay that would display when you clicked a card link and replaced it with a link that goes to eBay auction listings. I know, the functionality is worse. But as with many things in life, there are pros and cons associated with this change that I’ve had to balance to figure out the right decision.

The results thus far with the eBay links have been decent, though I’m not 100% “sold” yet. I might have to make adjustments as we go along, but I do feel good enough to continue to running them.

What is neat about the eBay links is that I can set up tracking to see exactly where the revenue is being generated.

So what I’m getting at is that I can track the earnings of each individual author on the site, and because I now have that ability, I’m starting a revenue share program.

I know a lot of you out there are high schoolers or in college and could probably use an extra couple bucks, so I’d like to give you something more for contributing to the site. I know the articles can take a long time to write and I really appreciate everyone that puts in the effort to produce content.

You might even be able to buy cat treats for your cat!

If you’re an author, please read this page for more details and instructions on how to opt in to the revenue share. Today is November 30th, but December 1st will be the first day the program is officially up and running.

I’m hoping this all goes well, though I can’t really make any guarantees about how long this will last. This is a totally new thing for me to try and I’m willing to take a chance on it.

I feel like it could be a real positive development for the site if all goes well. I mean look at YouTube and how they’re able to incentivize people to produce amazing content.

Before I sign out, be sure to check out this neat gadget I made on Wednesday morning. It tells you what records will make top cut depending on how many players and rounds you have. No more having to bother Ben Sauk to figure it out!!

Also anyone going to see Title Fight in Philly tonight? I’ll see you there.

Adam, I think you make more money off this game than some TPCi Employees. Good job.

Thanks man, I appreciate the support. Yeah we’ll see what happens… so far only 1 person has actually emailed and opted in, but I know it’s early.
