Blacephalon-GX/Naganadel and Jirachi/Mew Box for Atlantic City “This card allows you to take Prize cards without removing your Fire Energy from play, which makes Charging Up more efficient. Its Ability is nice in conjunction with both Beast Ring and Charging Up to take a 1HKO with Hot Burn-GX. Something to note is that Hot Burn-GX can take down a Jirachi TEU for a single Energy. This way, instead of using Burst-GX for a discarded Prize card, you can keep the Prize card rather than have to discard it. This is fine even if Heatran-GX gets taken down because then you will be on a Beast Ring turn.…
Looks at Zoroark/Golisopod, Zoroark/Lycanroc, Buzzwole/Shrine, and Empoleon/Swampert for Memphis Standard “4 Rockruff, 3 Lycanroc-GX This thicker Lycanroc line is something I have really liked in Zororoc. It makes the deck noticeably more consistent and lets the deck be as aggressive as possible. You always want at least one Rockruff on the field turn one, preferably with an energy attachment. With four Rockruff and so many ball cards, getting basics in play usually isn’t a problem. Three Lycanrocs are actually used in some games due to the low Guzma count and lack of hand disruption options, so that isn’t something I would overlook either. Diancie {*} This card was a last…
Examining the Tech Options in Hartford Standard, Spanning the Spectrum of Fire, and Sylveon Surprises “As noted in my previous article, our current format revolves around the three best decks. In my opinion, all other decks are automatically Tier 2. They aren’t bad or clunky decks, but lack the brokenness of Gardevoir or Golisopod. As you can see, a lot of the decks I listed are also Stage 2 decks, with Drampa/Garbodor being the exception. I’d also consider Greninja in a class of its own, but that’s for another day. There are certain Pokemon or Trainer cards with a specific purpose. Examples of this include Oranguru and Octillery: both add draw support at a measly…
Standard and Expanded Decks for Autumn Regionals “Evil Tall BASICS Ray’s Eels DCEels Meddle Conclusion I’ll start off this article by discussing my favorite deck from last format, Yveltal. As other writers have said before, Yveltal and friends are not gone. The deck is still competitive this format. I am pleasantly surprised with how the deck has been testing and I expect to see Yveltal decks come time for Autumn Regionals. The deck has lost potency with the rotation of Dark Patch, but in the right metagame we will see Yveltal decks do well. That “right metagame” may very well be one of these upcoming Regionals. Yveltal-EX is…
