A Hyperspace Jump Through Weeks 2 and 3 of the Fall Regionals Trilogy “Blind we are, of creation of this clone army we could not see. The past weekend has given us two decks that stand far above the rest. Texas was dominated by our hero, the Jedi Master of this new format, Archie’s Blastoise. Fresh off of its emergence as the World Champion, Blastoise, along with Jedi Padawan Keldeo, was able to take 4 of the Top 8 spots in Texas and even 2 in Arizona. These results appear to show that the Jedi Order is in firm control of the galaxy. However, the Dark Side was strong in Arizona where the…
Cost-Effective Deck Options for Fall Regionals “I think it’s pretty safe to say “Yes, you do.” Neither of those decks have an accessible turn 1 attack (unless you run Colress Machine and Team Plasma Badge in Genesect), thus you are often best off attempting to get a Beach in play (often through the assistance of Skyla) and filling your hand in hopes of bolstering your second turn potential. But let’s say you only own 2 Tropical Beach and the optimal Blastoise list plays 3 Beach. Or you only own 1 and the best play is 2 in Genesect. (You own at least 1 Beach but 1…
Transitioning the Shuriken-Thrower from Expanded in Phoenix to Standard in Orlando “Source ↗ There are a few things from this list I want to point out. Firstly is the Supporter line. Running two Ace Trainer is a great idea, especially given that in most situations we do not want to shuffle into the deck until after a Water Duplicates. After Frogadier gets knocked out, Ace Trainer becomes a live card and puts a damper on our opponent’s momentum. The next card of note is Teammates. Being able to search out the crucial pieces needed to finish out a match is great, especially if you are on the back foot. One example is…
All About the Top 8 1st Seed Philadelphia Regionals Lists “Elephant in the Room Preparing for Expanded Paralysis Analysis Conclusion I feel the best way to explain how to play Donphan is to go over a card-by-card analysis of the deck. Every card serves a very specific purpose and it’s difficult to play the deck correctly if you don’t know why a certain card is in the deck. After a lot of testing, this is the list I ended up playing: 4-4 Donphan PLS The main strategy of the deck is to use Spinning Turn with Donphan and bring up the most annoying Pokémon for your opponent to deal with.…
A Philadelphia Regionals 2014 Report “Going into Philly this year, my friend Adrian and I tested the format extensively. We narrowed the format down to a few big decks that we expected to see at Autumn Regionals: Fighting/Big Basics, Virizion/Genesect, and Yveltal. We believed that Yveltal would not be too high in presence due to its poor performance against our Big Basics list, but that ended up being a large oversight on our part. During the week before Philly, Adrian started testing a deck that focused on using Crushing Hammer and Team Flare Grunt to cripple the opponent’s board. After refining the list, we thought that the deck would…
This Pokémon has a jaw that’s as sharp as a spear and as strong as steel. Apparently ___________’s flesh is surprisingly tasty, too. (Barraskewda)
Mew Box/Ninetales for Knoxville “This inclusion was mainly for Malamar. Eevee-GX can do 100 damage, which is enough to start taking cheap KOs early on. Once Eevee-GX gets attacked by Giratina LOT, that is where Ascension DNA comes in handy. You are able to fully heal Eevee-GX and take another KO with Flareon-GX. Theoretically, you can take 3 Prize cards (or more) with this strategy. This is good because you will be giving up just 2 in return. Also, as Peter Kica mentioned, Flareon-GX’s Power Burner-GX is similar to Victini {*}’s Infinity and is great copied by Mewtwo & Mew-GX. I always look to…
By rapidly rolling its legs, it can travel at over 18 mph. The temperature of the flames it breathes exceeds 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. (Carkol)
