Bio: My name is Ian Asplund, better known as Raen around the interwebz. I’ve always liked the Pokémon video games and have been an avid fan for most of my life; however, it wasn’t really until the spring of 2010 that I found myself interested in the TCG. My brother and I decided to pick up some starter decks, and as I was researching leagues, I noticed that the Utah State Championships was only a week away, so my brother and I thought it’d be fun to go.
Needless to say, we had a blast. I ended up doing surprisingly well, looking back. I went 2-4 with a theme deck! Still, I desperately wanted to become better. I read and read and read everything I could possibly find about the game, went to multiple leagues, and played in every tournament possible. Eventually, I began to improve, and now I’m where I’m at today, with multiple City Championship top cuts (ok, only 2, but still!), and a 6th place finish at the 2011 Utah State Championships. I’m continuing to improve, and I want to share the knowledge I have gained and hopefully will continue to gain with all of you!

It can radiate chilliness from the bottoms of its feet. It’ll spend the whole day tap-dancing on a frozen floor. (Galarian Mr. Mime)
