This thread is for discussing Plasma Klinklang and other Steel attackers. The strategy is to get Plasma Klinklang out to protect Metal Pokemon from EX attackers, and start attacking with Cobalion EX or on rare occasions Klinklang. The deck has taken a hit with the loss of Shift Gear Klinklang. But on the bright side with BLW Klinklang gone it has been giving a new card, Silver Mirror. Techs include Durant DRX, Town Map and Jirachi EX. It has seen some success at U.S. Nats. If TDK uses their scrappers/Discards them/prizes them and you get out Plasmaklang there is literally nothing they can do but deck you out (Unless they run a bad tech).

    [spoiler=Click for Decklist]

    4 Klinklang
    3 Cobalion EX

    4 Rare Candy
    3 Silver Mirror
    4 Catcher
    3 Switch
    1 Tool Scrapper

    11 Metal Energies

I think 4-4 is too high a count for Klinklang. Most Garbodor decks run 3-3, because they've found the 4th Garbodor is just a waste of space. Enjoy more free space :p

4th Garbodor is a waste of space because it's a stage 1 and you don't necessarily need Garbodor T2. T2 you really want the Klinklang.

That's a fair point. But for someone who has played Klinklang for several months, I can tell you from experience it's just not necessary. Four Klinks would probably be advisable though.

So has anyone been messing around with this at all? I've been trying a few things but nothing has been working too well.

I love Klinklang, but I'm starting to think he just doesn't have enough support anymore.

Yes, Klinklang is bad now. Too many decks running non EX attackers. Plus people are running Garbodor, plus you lost BLW Klinklang.

Ya, I ground into worlds and went 4-4, (almost 5-3 and with resistance cut) But I tested without the shift gear klinklang, and the deck is just dead without it.

This deck is not dead, you just need to put your list together correctly. The deck is good against everything in the format, except for Garbodor (and that matchup can be teched for). Here's the list I'm testing our right now.

    Pokemon - 14

    4x Klink DEX
    1x Klang DEX
    3x Klinklang PLS
    3x Cobalion EX
    2x Durant DEX
    1x Jirachi EX

    Supporters/Trainers - 35

    4x Professor Juniper
    4x N
    3x Colress
    2x Skyla

    3x Ultra Ball
    3x Pokemon Catcher
    3x Rare Candy
    3x Switch
    2x Heavy Ball
    2x Tool Scrapper
    1x Dowsing Machine

    3x Float Stone
    2x Silver Bangle

    Energy - 11

    11x Metal Energy

Since plasma klang can actually OHKO kyurem, couldn't you make a version of this deck that attack with it? Energy aceleration with colress machine + plasma, maybe with plasma badge for coballion?

My logic is that this deck has lost the late game plan (in max potion + bw klang), so maybe it could transform in a faster - more agressive - deck. Use plasma steel and silver mirror just as speed bumps and keep attacking as fast as possible.

Also, it seems like this deck is the best possible for Jirachi tech.
  13. public_toilet

public_toilet Seriously Likeable here guys, Just sayin.

    Though it seems best-
Every deck (except mirror) has a way around Jirachi + Plasma Steel. Kyurem can use frost spear+Bangle+laser Bank/3x Deoxys/Snipe from previous turn, Garbodor shuts it off, Blastoise is pretty much an auto-win for you so Jirachi would not be needed (unless you want to give up 2 prizes to a fully powered Stoise and Virigen (I prefer that name to "Virgen") runs whatever it wants to take down anything it needs to e.g. Bouffalant, Drifblim, Tropius or possibly even Baby Genesect.

I believe Blastoise has a better spot for Jirachi as - You want more consistency and you will be more than happy to see a bench spot free up than an all out charge at Black Kyurem.

tbh Dark Garb does everything Klinklang does but easier(I know Klinklang's ability but Dark Garb has a better match-up across the board). It 1) shuts off Keldeo AND Stoise and the Blastoise match-up is about 80-20 in Dark Garb's favour (Yes vulnerable to tool scrapper but remember this guy), 2) It has Sableye (Nothing much more to be said).

I believe PlasmaKlang has a place in the format above the BDM decks though.

I'll say the same thing that I say to everyone who suggests this. What could you possibly want from your deck that is worth giving up 2 prizes?

More outs to a supporter, getting out of a supporter drought
Jirachi is actually good in blastoise

I wouldn't go that far, but it's less bad. With the number of balls it runs it can get it in a pinch but still any deck that opens with it, is in a bad way. And I just can't see the card being worth it with catcher around. If catcher wasn't around it would be a great card, but it is.

In blastoise, if you catcher Ko the Jirachi, than you are ignoring either the giant keldeo or the black kyurem. You don't have time to gocus on jirachi unless the opp has 2 prizes left.
Jirachi is a high risk, high reward card. I'm not saying it's fantastic, but just contradicting your statement on how Jirachi ia not worth it

Then we are arguing the same point. The card is awful in most decks, the few it is not awful in, it isn't good but its far from the worst thing you could play, which at this point is Blastoise because it is one of the few decks that threatens a recharging OHKO each turn consistently.

The card as a whole is awful with catcher in the format. Without it, I could see it being a couple of in the majority of the decks, but the risk honestly isn't worth the reward in the majority of the cases.

Has anyone tried running Lucario PLS 78 in this? I know it is obviously a Stage 1 but it can OHKO Darkrai (with Bangle, Hypnobank, or if your opponent has taken a prize). Also, it offers a finisher this deck really lacks. Thoughts?
  20. PellOfTheTundra

    PellOfTheTundra Do you even LT-87

I played against a variant with Lucario PLS in it at states, and it really didn't play too much of a role except being the only prize I took the whole game (thanks Sableye you're so stronk), and I was playing Darkrai/Lasers. It didn't take 1 prize and ended up just being a waste of an energy attach after I hammered off the blend that was on it. It really becomes dead weight if your opponent runs Enhanced.
