"Daggers make contact," Alcinoe said, while keeping her eyes fixed on the hideous slime-beast. "It will probably get reflected, we need more information before we can start properly attacking!"

"Not direct contact dear. We still don't know if it is direct contact or any sort of contact"

Sayer flinched back. It wasn't the cold that bothered him, but the pain from what seemed like.. his own whips! He let them dissolve as Jak cried out, and formed them and some of the water he could feel from outside into the Arcane Flowing Armor, noticing a drop in his mana, although still enough to use it.
The water made him about six inches(or roughly 8 centimeters) taller, and added bulk everywhere. He leaped forward, grabbed Jak, and jumped back. When he spoke, the sound was surprisingly clear "What do you think will happen if I use it." He said to Jak, noticing Messiah starting to charge up some sort of powerful move and Histon calculating. Where was Alcinoe?

Histon called off the illusion. Even though it was comprised solely of light and the creature seemed to only reflect attempts at physical harm, meaning that no harm should be done to him, he didn't want to think of what could happen if it turned out he was wrong.

Flameheart, Jak, and Sayer acted more rashly than Histon would have preferred. After all, this monster was a simple blob of gelatinous goo, and yet it was undefeated. It was clear from the moment the battle stared that the amulet present inside its body granted it some great power, and thanks to Jak and Sayer, they all knew just what kind of power it had been given. Nonetheless, the boundaries of this ability Histon could not figure out. Would indirect attacks such as Flameheart's Light attack affect the creature, or be redirected back at him? If the case was the former, then the group's offensive capabilities would be less limited than Histon originally thought. However, if it was the latter, then they would have to think more strategically. Each person who would choose to attack the creature would have to use a move that they themselves were immune to, and Histon didn't know if most of the group had access to such immunities. For now, Histon stayed back, watching how the creature would react to the actions of the remainder of the group.

As flameheart shot his light blast, it hits Alcinoe, Jak, and Sayer.
They each seem stunned, but the damage is minimal enough for It not to be too much of an issue. Upon reaching the slime monster, the amulet once again lights up, and the damage is expelled.

Flameheart, Messiah, and Alcinoe each take damage from light blast.

The monster roars, and begins to visibly expand, though slowly.

Histon's fears were realized. The creature seemed to be able to reflect any external attack made to it, not just close-range or physical ones. He had one plan, though it would al depend on whether the creature itself took damage each time they attacked it, or whether it was even possible for it to take damage...

"Flameheart!" Histon called. "Use a Fire-based attack on it! We need to know if it can even take damage!"

Jak was a little stunned. He had never fought a monster he couldn't beat with his own brute strength. This was going to take some getting used to and some careful planning. At least he knew if the monster actually attacked he was bulky and tank like enough to be able to withstand hits for the others so that they may come up with a plan. He was excellent at providing cover. He looked back toward Sayer.

"If only we knew it wouldn't effect the rest of us if you used it.. At this point there's no guarantee that you won't drown us all buddy." Jak said. "Although.... Histon! How deep would you say that amulet thing looks to you?"
  8. Flameheart landed in a crouch. "On it, Histon!" He yelled. "I really hope your plan is good!" He yelled as Betty's blades started to glow. "Eat Overheat, you dumb blob!" He swung Betty. Her blades started flaming right before impact.

While she was already dashing to the far end of the cave, Alcinoe yelled; "Sayer, summon water! Protect the others, it may reflect this as well!" Then, Alcinoe leapt up against the wall, and wall jumped towards the creature, her battle staff ready. In mid-air, she thought about what previously seemed a very trivial part of her education at the Sky Academy..

It was ages ago, in biology. The teacher had been talking about how every creature has developed a way to defend itself from direct harm, but this defense could only stretch as far as its instincts allowed it. He then demonstrated this by dropping a frog in searing-hot water. Of course, the frog leapt out. But when it was placed in cold water, which was then heated, the frog wouldn't move, even when the water started to boil.

Maybe that's it, Alcinoe thought. The creature had repelled every direct attack, anything that would harm it.. But maybe there was a way to harm it indirectly..
And with that thought, Alcinoe grabbed the bottle of oil, or what was left of it, and threw it against the ceiling, right above the monster. It shattered, and its contents covered the monster, before Flameheart's attack hit it. When she was about to hit the ground, she tucked in her arms and legs and landed rolling, to the sprint to the furthest side of the cavern, opposite to the side where the others where standing. She hoped she was far enough to dodge Flameheart's attack, just as she noticed that her left arm was covered in oil, from shoulder to elbow..

Jak perked up when He heard Alcinoe shout to Sayer and watched her performance. Jak looked back toward Sayer, "Keep 'em covered, buddy!" Jak was already running toward her but it was already a matter of time if he could get to her before Flameheart's attack hit. Sayer could protect everyone else with his water but if she was the only one within range when the attack struck then Sayer would protect them all but Alcinoe. Jak didn't bother to warn Alcinoe of her arm being soaked in oil as he was sure she was already well aware. He jumped toward Alcinoe with his arms stretched wide to grab hold of her to take the brunt of the blast. Jak ended up grabbing her in an almost tackle like motion and ended up holding onto her while they were on the ground rolling. They rolled a few times before Jak was in a defensive position with his back toward the blast to take it for Alcinoe. He then enveloped himself within his invincible armor that would protect himself from any hit. This would in turn protect Alcinoe as well with her being in Jak's arms.

[[Jak has an ability that allows him to be enveloped in this magical armor that can withstand ANY attack but can only be used once per dungeon. Just thought I would clarify.]]

Admittedly, the physical aspect of Flameheart's attack could prove dangerous, but it would have to do. Histon located one particularly powerful spell inside Inscriptio Librum, and began to recite it.

As Flameheart's axe swung towards the creature, the flames that coated it grew more intense. They burned with more and more energy, fed by the heart of the world and the furnace of its very core. The licks of fire changed color, from orange, to yellow, and then to purple. They grew darker and became black, and finally shifted to a blazing white. The light it produced outshone everything else in the room, and its heat could be felt from across the cavern. Flameheart was no longer wielding an axe. He was wielding a miniature supernova - a pulsating core of pure energy that barreled towards the slime with heat that rivaled that of the sun. The synergy between Flameheart's capabilities and Histon's mana could melt through solid granite like it was butter.

However, this wasn't just the application of brute force. If Histon's calculations were correct and Flameheart was truthful in that he was a son of Hephaestus, if the attack was rebounded, it would have barely any effect. After all, Flameheart was immune to fire, and if Histon correct, augmenting the power of the axe would not qualify as striking the creature itself. Hopefully, this attack would show the limitations to this amulet possessed by the monster that sat in the middle of the chamber.

Sayer froze. The only water he could really summon was in his attacks, and while a weaker, looser Ultimate Demise might do the trick, it might sap even to much mana to be able to use it again after a mana potion.
    Oh well...
His face grimaced in focus. He weakens his own armor, summoned more, and surrounded the monster with it... But Flameheart was there as well! Sayer had to focus even more, forming the water around as not to hit Fkameheart inside or Alcinoe and Jak outside. His mind felt as if it were tearing in two. The enormous amount of focus required was almost to much to bear...

Messiah just watched the scene go by. In this situation, the only thing Messiah would be able to do was.... nothing. He looked at the amulet. The thing that was stopping their attacks....
First, he needed to see if this worked. He chucked Laevatienn like a spear at the slime, just right next to where the amulet should be.

The flaming axe hit the monster right as Alcinoe's oil doused the monster. However, as the monster continues to grow, and the gelatin surrounding the amulet almost reaches Flameheart, the force of the explosion is repelled. Though it is a healing aura to Flameheart, Alcinoe is not so lucky. Alcinoe who is already weakened by the light blast, is almost knocked out.

As this happens, the expanding goo seems to be trying to push Flameheart into the Sayer's water.

Suddenly, without warning, Messiah clumsily threw his sword at the blob. The throw was poor, which, somehow, was lucky.

If thrown perfectly, the sword would have impaled Flameheart.

The sword misses, and clatters loudly across, the smooth, slightly gooey floor of the cavern.

The slime continues to expand, beginning to grow faster. The goo begins writhing, shaking violently.
You would hate to see what would happen if the goo touched you [CUE: Flameheart]

A voice booms, seeming to originate from the goo, saying:
"Fools! Brute Strength will never Defeat me!"

You all begin to realize that the monster is legendary for a reason...

[[Well, the sword is made of pure fire... so I don't think Flameheart would mind Laevatienn sticking out of his chest]]
[[I also forgot Messiah has Dark null lol....]]
"All of you need to get out of range! Sayer, I need you to hold the water for just a bit more!"
He concentrated all of his mentality onto his fist. And with a howl of anger, he slammed it into the ground. The ominous rumble started bringing cracks. Black haze started to creep out and circle around the pile of enlarging goo. Messiah felt his mentality start to fade away, but he kept his eyes open. He wanted to see the pain on this thing that thinks itself so legendary.
[[Probly gonna do a another dialogue post about the details of the portal... also kinda giving all yall some time to move]]
  16. Flameheart looked right at the monster. "I'm about to do something really dumb." Flameheart said with a smirk. "Any of you guys ever hear the story of Jonah?" he asked. "You guys might need to leave, fast, if this works!" he shouted. And with that, he used some fire to propel himself at the creature's mouth. "Open up!" he shouted, axe blazing.
  17. HighShroomish

Sayer groaned. Subconsciously, he heard Messiah. He split the wall around Flameheart, and cut him off from the slime. He couldn't keep this up for much longer. His mana was flowing out of him.[DOUBLEPOST=1399083295][/DOUBLEPOST]He jerked back as Flameheart dove, his focus broken. The water collapsed or dissolved. Sayer collapsed, and his vision went black. His hair went dark grey.
  18. Right before Flameheart would have hit the monster's mouth, he stopped. "Oh, a gift. For you, friend." He said, pulling out his bottle of sand. He emptied the bottle of sand into his hand. "Get ready to eat my dust," Flameheart said, throwing the sand right at the monster's eyes and blasting it with fire midair, forming extremely hot flecks of glass. He didn't stay long enough before plunging towards the monster's mouth to see if it had actually hit his eyes.

Jak's magic armor faded and he looked down to Alcinoe who was still in his practically unscathed. "You okay, sweetheart?" Jak said with a concerned smile. Jak then assisted her, or at least how little she actually would let him assist in helping her up. He then looked toward Sayer who he knew should be drastically drained and in need of some attention since he knew it must have taken a lot out of him to pull off what he did. He then looked back toward Alcinoe, gave her a friendly wink and a thumbs up and darted off to help Sayer.

Jak made it to Sayer and picked him up in his powerful arms. "You done good, buddy, you done good." Jak said almost in a whisper. He hated seeing Sayer like this. He wasn't even sure if he was conscious right now. "Let's get you out of harms way." Jak then began to look around to see if there was a place good enough to leave his dear friend. Maybe he would come to while he was looking. Who knows. Jak was just seriously concerned right now about his friend's mental health after such a strain.

Histon was sorely frustrated. He began pacing, fuming at the notion that nothing they had done up to that point had done anything to the creature, and by the fact that very few of the spells he had at his command even had a shot at doing anything. The amulet it wore inside of it was clearly powerful, and it made sense to Histon why it had been undefeated at this point in time.

He wracked his brain, trying to think of ways to defeat the creature, pacing more furiously. Finally, he stopped, and held his fingers to his temple, and delved into his subconscious, trying to remember something, anything that might help their plight. He almost went into a sort of meditation, taking no notice of Flameheart and Messiah, who were getting ready for their risky assaults.
