Testing Jay's list on ptcgo, minus a mewtwo ex -_-

    Seems legit so far.

    Hey everyone!

It looks like ZekEel (and electric types in general) will be a very popular deck at States... is there a way to tech in versus the mirror match?

I was thinking of 2 Terrakion and 3 Fighting Energy. In an already tight list, that is a tough thing to fit in.

I was also wondering what people thought about Zapdos... the ability to snipe for 50 is pretty nice.

    Comments on Terrakion? Or Zapdos?

Zapdos is sorta nice for sniping but staring out with it can be a little weird and besides in our next set we get Raikou EX sniping for 100 and having 1 retreat (0 with skyarrow). Terrakion is nice but I would only go as far as playing 1 just so you don't lose consistency and again starting out with him is not so nice.

Zapdos is an interesting way to not only conserve Catchers, but bait opponents into bringing up easy-to-kill attackers. It's also another alternate attacker against Fighting that doesn't make your mirror weaker (i.e., Tornadus).

Interesting comment found in the newest UG article,
    “ETC”: Europe, Testing, and Correcting!

"...however, Terrakion was an awesome metagame call for the many Eelektrik mirrors, and appeared to be just the best overall tech option."

    16 Pokemon:
    15 Energy:
    29 Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:

That's the list i'm currently testing. I'm loving smeargle, he serves kind of like a searchable pokegear 3.0; except that he sees on average 6 of your opponent's cards instead of 7 from your own deck.

tried terrakion in my personal zekeels list and i though it was too slow and clunky for me.

Zapdos is still weak in the mirror match he has the lightning weakness as well unfortunately

I am toying with an idea to include cleffa and tyrogue. I was asked why both... Do you think it would be worthwhile to include cleffa, so in the case you are losing and want to come from behind... you get cleffa into the active and then use N your turn. you get to eeek for your hand back. while your opponent struggles with 1 or 2 card hand. It may only work in certain instances. and you might have to get the flips just right. I was just wondering if anyone thought this was reason enough to have a cleffa in the deck?

cleffa means you have two baby's to get donked.

but one tyrouge is a beast. it won me countless games on turn one.

Testing with ZekEels + Terrakion has taught me that it's too inconsistent, and like JoshA11 said, it's a bad starter. Testing with a list with 2 terrakion and 2 fighting taught me that whenever I got it in my hand, I should play junk arm as soon as possible. Zapdos, however, helps with facing terrakion and is a much better card over all, with the ability to snipe.

This is the post DEX list I'm currently testing

    Pokemon: 16
    2 Thundurus EPO
    2 Zekrom BLW
    2 Mewtwo EX
    3 Tynamo NVI 38
    1 Tynamo NVI 39
    3 Eelektrik NVI 40
    1 Raikou EX
    1 Tornadus EX
    1 Smeargle CL

    Trainers: 32

    4 PONT
    3 Juniper
    2 N
    4 Junk Arm
    4 Pokemon Catcher
    4 Dual Ball
    2 Switch
    2 PlusPower
    2 Level Ball
    1 Eviolite
    1 Super Rod
    2 Skyarrow Bridge
    1 Random Reciever

    Energy:12
    8 Lightning
    4 DCE

One consideration I have is dropping 1, maybe both, mewtwo's in exchange for another lightning energy and/or another random receiver.

    Is Terra really needed?
It is just a "win more" card that messes with consistency and is not necessary to win certain matchups.

^ agreed I find that terrakion isn't that smart of a play because the only thing your OHKO'ing is EX's which Zekrom EX can do better.....

I have to agree with the above posts. Terrakion to me is just a win more card Zekrom and the others can do its job without ruining consistency. Yes its typing helps one-shot darkrai and raikou, but I'm not convinced that's enough to warrant a place in the deck. I've tried it a few times and all it really did was slow me down and do more harm than good. Plus with eels I'm more concerned about the idea of Landorus/Groudon EX. Tier 1 deck? No, but it can be a nasty problem imo.

yeah fighting decks seem more problematic to me atm than darkrai, darkrai doesn't get complete typing advantage and can easily be 2HKO'd by a host of attackers while the only things that really work on fighting types are mewtwo/tornadus EX w/ eviolite.....
