ReshiZard (My Top Meta Pick) and Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX (An Off-the-Wall Pick) for Worlds/DC Open “While I may despise the Green’s version of ReshiZard in the current Standard format, it is unfortunately the only available option when it comes to post-rotation. From what I have seen, ReshiZard lists have become pretty standardized, and that is both a good and a bad thing. It is good because you can usually know what to expect from your opponent when playing against the deck, but it is bad in that if you’re playing ReshiZard yourself, your opponent knows most of your deck. Sometimes, you absolutely need to be able to find that Volcanion on your first turn, and…
Testing Lessons, Green’s ReshiZard, and Beheeyem for the World Championships/DC Open “Lists are all wildly different for any deck. This is a lesson that needs to be taken into account because while two people could be playing PikaRom, one list could be Jirachi-based and one could be Turbo. One list could be playing heavy Lillie, whereas another could be playing 0 Lillie. It’s important to take notes on what version of a deck and what techs it sports in your testing and try a bunch of stuff out. Even content creators on YouTube have wildly differing lists and they’re pretty different from my lists that I’ve been using in my testing…
The Latest on ReshiZard + PikaRom and Jon’s Idea Dump for Worlds “To start, I want to put in that this list is based off of one that our very own Peter Kica posted on Twitter. I made a few adjustments that I thought were appropriate. A lot of PikaRom lists in the past included high counts of Jirachi to help with consistency and getting as early of a Full Blitz as possible. Now that Iβve had a little time to test, I can say that Jirachi doesnβt fit in this deck as well as it used to. It makes you quite slow versus the mirror, which will be quite popular, and…
Mewtwo & Mew-GX with Welder and Attackers for Worlds/DC Open and What’s Good in UPR-on “Back to Worlds testing and the big, humongous question mark that is the UPR-on metagame. Iβve been playing quite a bit, making and unmaking lists over and over trying to find the right balance in things. Iβm not sure anything is perfect because there are so many options and directions each deck can go, and itβs hard to test absolutely everything. It has been surprising to me to find myself building decks so differently in what is a heavily-reduced card pool compared to SUM-on. Claiming to know what the BDIF is as of right now is impossible and whoever says…
Dragonite/Salazzle and Dark Box (Sharpedo) for UPR-on/Worlds/DC Open “This is a deck that I believe has potential to break open the meta. The ability to deal 270 damage relatively easily is something that should not be overlooked. What the deck seemed to lack was a good way to draw cards, and I believe that I solved that with the inclusion of Salazzle UNB. This deck needs to find a Welder or a Professor Elm’s Lecture every turn, and Dragonite TEU helps to do that. Unfortunately it cannot attack, but Fast Call is more than enough to warrant the spot it takes. Salandit DRM is the optimal choice here…

Unified Minds: Top 10 Impact Cards and UPR-on PikaRom v1.10 “At first glance this card seems underwhelming with a net gain of 2 only cards, but you see 6 cards from your deck and get rid of 4 cards that may or may not be useful later on. Thinning your deck without Ultra Ball is more of a hassle than I previously thought, and Reset Stamp exists, which makes deck-thinning important. Granted, an early-game Hapu is risky because you can get rid of important cards. Decks like Dark Toolbox and Mewtwo & Mew-GX Toolbox should both be playing high counts of Hapu because their strategies revolve around their discard pile.…
Checkmating in UPR-on with Naganadel-GX Control, Worlds/DC Open Meta Overview, and a Peek at Meganium/Nidoqueen “As I said before, this deck is a modernized checkmate. Also like Zoroark-GX of the past, the deck does not solely rely on Stinger-GX to win the game. Because it’s forced to play an array of Ultra Beasts, Rainbow Energies are strong in allowing multicolored attackers. Buzzwole FLI, Nihilego LOT, Kartana UNB, and Xurkitree UNM are all strong, adaptable attackers. Worst case, they’re fuel for Ultra Conversion. One thing that this deck has going for it is its strong engine. With 4 Mysterious Treasure, 4 Ultra Space, 4 Pokemon Communication, and 2 Dedenne-GX, this deck will rarely open with…
A Unified Minds Set Breakdown and Which Cards Will Impact the Meta “This is a card that I do not see falling into the background in either Standard or Expanded. Being able to break evolution rules has always been very strong, and now we have an attacker that does it for no Energy cost. In Standard, I’m quite certain that some form of Grass Box could become real, and I could also see Nidoqueen TEU/Meganium LOT/Swampert CES playing this card. In Expanded, the options available to us are absolutely crazy. For instance, we can now easily achieve turn 1 Item lock with Vileplume AOR. The potential of this card is incredibly strong,…
On the Unified Minds Set List and Malamar Adapted for UPR-on “But enough about the current Standard (SUMβUNB) which is about to end as we head into UPR-on. Last time around I had only theorized different decks, based on transitioning older decks into this newer format by “replacing cards” one for one. Thankfully, the Unified Minds set list has already been confirmed, and thus we know exactly what we can (or canβt use) for Worlds. Iβm sure many people were disappointed that Unified Minds included no reprints whatsoever, but I think itβs a matter of properly adapting and embracing change. The same thing happened when we lost Professor Sycamore and N,…
Goodbye Insane Cards (We Will Miss You) plus ReshiZard, Raikrom, and Malamar/Ultra Necrozma-GX for UPR-on “However, this yearβs rotation goes way beyond Zoroark-GX. Despite it being one of the strongest and most victorious PokΓ©mon card of all time, weβre also losing cards that were as powerful and successful as the Dark-type fox, such as Double Colorless Energy, Ultra Ball, and Guzma. The former has been around since Base Set. It actually rotated for a few years, returned to the format, and now is leaving it once again. It has always been a strong and widely-used card. Ultra Ball showed up in 2012, stayed in the format for seven years, and has always been part of…
The swirl pattern in this PokΓ©monβs body is its weakness. If it gets stirred, the swirl loses its shape, and ________ gets dizzy. (Sinistea)
UPR-on ReshiZard, Predicted Trends for UPR-on, the Transition Period (Goodbye, Cardsβ¦), and a Succinct NAIC Recap “In terms of the actual tournament, StΓ©phane Ivanoff pulled off what seems like an impossible feat, by winning back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. He also did it with two different Zoroark-GX decks, the latest one including a wide array of options such as Dewgong UNB, Persian-GX, and Naganadel-GX. Triple Acceleration Energy was the real star of the show, however, as it is what allowed all of these cards to work so well and have so much synergy between them. I myself didnβt have such a stellar experience, as I was eliminated from Day 2 early on with a 3-3 record.…
A constant collector of information, this PokΓ©mon is very smart. Very strong is what it isn’t. (Blipbug)
