Vikavolt and Early Impressions of the UPRโRCL Format So Far (or: a Tentative Tier List) “A lot of people who are close to me can vouch for the fact that I’ve been talking about this deck a lot. When I first saw Vikavolt RCL, I was amazed that they were allowing Twin Energy to count as 40 damage for Powerful Storm. At this point, I hadn’t even remembered that Charjabug UNB was a card, and I already thought the deck was decent. And then I remembered that there’s 160 damage in free attachments just laying around in Charjabug. The really high damage numbers needed to be viable in this format became obtainable for Vikavolt. I…
Kenny on the State of Expanded, Luck, and Upcoming Events “A few months ago I wrote an article talking about what I would add or remove from the Expanded ban list. Shortly thereafter the ban list was updated with no changes (as expected). I didn’t hear too many disagreements about what I wrote, but with two Regionals having happened since, I wanted to touch on a few of the thoughts I’ve seen expressed on social media lately. Q: “Is Expanded broken?” A: I don’t think Expanded is broken, but I do wonder how fun it is. Above anything else, the point of a format (and a game as a whole)…

All About the Top 8 1st Seed Philadelphia Regionals Lists “Elephant in the Room Preparing for Expanded Paralysis Analysis Conclusion I feel the best way to explain how to play Donphan is to go over a card-by-card analysis of the deck. Every card serves a very specific purpose and it’s difficult to play the deck correctly if you don’t know why a certain card is in the deck. After a lot of testing, this is the list I ended up playing: 4-4 Donphan PLS The main strategy of the deck is to use Spinning Turn with Donphan and bring up the most annoying Pokรฉmon for your opponent to deal with.…
Common throughout the Galar region, this Pokรฉmon has strong teeth and can chew through the toughest of berry shells. (Greedent)
Mew Box/Ninetales for Knoxville “This inclusion was mainly for Malamar. Eevee-GX can do 100 damage, which is enough to start taking cheap KOs early on. Once Eevee-GX gets attacked by Giratina LOT, that is where Ascension DNA comes in handy. You are able to fully heal Eevee-GX and take another KO with Flareon-GX. Theoretically, you can take 3 Prize cards (or more) with this strategy. This is good because you will be giving up just 2 in return. Also, as Peter Kica mentioned, Flareon-GX’s Power Burner-GX is similar to Victini {*}’s Infinity and is great copied by Mewtwo & Mew-GX. I always look to…
Breaking the Format and BREAKpoint “This list is fairly similar to what Alex Hill offered in his last article, but there’re also some significant departures. The Wobbuffet is primarily there for things like Vileplume AOR and Archeops DEX, but it’s excellent in the early game against Blastoise as well. In fact, it’s often viable to simply win a game against Blastoise withย a T1 Wobbuffet and T2 Garbodor. That’s obviously not foolproof, nor always viable, but it’s an option that’s good to have on the table. I firmly believe mirror will be aย somewhat bigย deal. I reflect that in the Pokemon Center Lady, as you’ll quickly find…
