The Quiet Days and Second Wind of My Pokémon Career, Including the Most Unbalanced Decks I’ve Played, from 2013–2014 to Now “Ah, where were we? After 2013 Worlds, BLW, EPO, NVI, and DRV were rotated. Since the early Black & White sets started off slow, and because power creep really ramped up started at NXD, very few important cards were lost to this rotation. In addition, several of the powerful cards had already been reprinted: Terrakion got a secret rare in BCR; EPO Item powerhouses Pokemon Catcher and Max Potion got theirs in DEX and PLF; and the staple supporters Professor Juniper and N were spared too. The main exceptions were Eelektrik NVI and Crushing Hammer EPO. Virizion-EX/Genesect-EX PLB was the…
Lurantis/Vileplume and Other Options for Toronto “Before I dive into the meat of my article, I want to comment on a few things from this past weekend in Virginia. I just wanted to play something consistent, as I felt like this format was just about executing your strategy faster and more often than your opponent. Turbo Darkrai seemed to fit the bill nicely, so after seeing Philip Schulz do well in Brazil, I played a bunch of games with his list, made a single change, and went to town. My one change was -1 Dark Energy +1 Parallel City, as I thought the extra copy would…
Dark for Toronto, Alolan Ninetales and Garbodor for Seattle “If I were going to Toronto, I think the best and safect choices for an inexperienced Expanded player such as myself to consider would be either Volcanion-EX or Turbo Dark. Both options are very solid and don’t have any clear weaknesses or auto losses that I can come up with. The presence of Gallade PRC in a variety of decks could possibly hinder Turbo Dark a little bit, but other than that, there aren’t any other viable Fighting types besides Primal Groudon (which one-shots you no matter what). Sam Hough’s list from Portland Regionals seems like an extremely safe play for…
2014 Brazilian Nationals 1st Place Masters Report “This year Nationals happened on May 3rd and 4th, with more than 200 players. My choice of deck was very difficult this year. I played the beginning of this season with VirGen/Munna BCR/Musharna NXD and got a 2nd place in Brasília’s Regional. I played in two Cities with Ho-Oh-EX/Garbodor LTR/Techs and got a 2nd place in Brasilia as well. I played April Regionals near my town with Darkrai-EX/Yveltal-EX/Absol PLF in Brasilia where I had a 2nd place (AGAIN) and in Goiânia with Darkrai-EX/Yveltal-EX/Garbodor LTR where I got 7th place. I was calm about my CPs as I totaled them high…
This Pokémon lived on prehistoric seashores and was able to preserve food with the ice on its body. It went extinct because it moved so slowly. (Arctozolt)
Its amusing movements make it very popular. It releases its psychic power from the pattern on its belly. (Mr. Rime)
