Giving Mareep/Dragonite Its Time in the Spotlight “When I decided to start toying with Mill in Darkness Ablaze (DAA), I recognized that, despite my love for Cinccino, I’d have to look towards Mareep Mill. Dragapult’s place in the meta is severely compromised with the introduction of Eternatus VMAX, which looks to be a strong contender that completely steamrolls Dragapult. As a result of that, Mareep has its chance to shine. Looking at Mareep, I had two viable options: (1) Traditional Mareep Mill and (2) a newcomer to the metagame, Mareep/Dragonite Mill. The debut of Mareep/Dragonite Mill came via the unofficial Japan Nationals 2020 tournament, where the pilot…
Dragonite/Salazzle and Dark Box (Sharpedo) for UPR-on/Worlds/DC Open “This is a deck that I believe has potential to break open the meta. The ability to deal 270 damage relatively easily is something that should not be overlooked. What the deck seemed to lack was a good way to draw cards, and I believe that I solved that with the inclusion of Salazzle UNB. This deck needs to find a Welder or a Professor Elm’s Lecture every turn, and Dragonite TEU helps to do that. Unfortunately it cannot attack, but Fast Call is more than enough to warrant the spot it takes. Salandit DRM is the optimal choice here…
Patching Predictions for the BCR-on Format “Empoleon/Miltank Pyroar TDK Virizion/Dragonite Plasma/Lugia Big Basics/Garbodor Conclusion I agree with Andrew that between the loss of Tropical Beach and the sure popularity of Seismitoad, Stage 2 decks will take a big hit. However, I’m not as convinced as he is that they are “unplayable” because of these things rather shoved into the lower ends of tier 1 and the higher ends of tier 2. Empoleon is a deck that will see less play in a BCR-on format than it would have in a PLS-on format. Being a Water type, it counters Landorus-EX well and built-in draw power puts it…
Rising Fist (Furious Fists) Preview and 2014–2015 Format Predictions “Rising Fist Highlights 2014-2015 Season Format Predictions Early Favorites for PLS-on Lucario/Mewtwo Greninja/Miltank Dragonite-EX Conclusion Rising Fist (English: Furious Fists) looks to be one of the best sets in terms of overall playability that we have seen in a long time. I’m actually really tempted to buy a box of this set because of how many playable cards there are. When doing set highlights, I don’t touch on every card, but I do try to get detailed enough to include most cards that I feel could fit into tier 1 or tier 2 decks. It’s also very important to me that…
